hmmm, I wonder if mamayama heard the whistle and put upper fairing foam in as an effort to silence. So, did by chance any of you whistlers remove any foam????????

As a whislter - I did NOT remove the foam. the only changes I've made to the bike so far are to add Custom Chrome heat guards on the exposed pipes by the foot pets - and the whistle was there before I did that.

this weekend I'll add the vista cruise and hand guards.

I will tackle the whistling this weekend when I have some time. I think some duct tape and/or silicone should do it.

Most of the foam on the bike makes sense. I'm not sure how this stuff is going to react after a good soaking, but time will tell.

What about the foam between the oil filter and the sidestand? I dont see the purpose in that at all. Do the rest of you have foam in that area, or was this just something left over at the dealer?

May be some extra material that would be perfect for plugging holes that cause whistels...

I have an 04 and I have foam everwhere....I must have poured my beer too fast. :D

Should we start a beer thread?

I'm in.

Of course with all the beer flowing freely around here, no one's really drinking it until they're done riding for the day......right?

On a less serious note, can someone please post pictures of the place where the whistle is coming from? Also, please show us your fix for it.

Thank you.

take a look at the "Whistle Definitely fixed" post. there was another that was something like Whistle Fixed that has a couple of pictures. Unfortunately - the fix is really in a spot that isn't conducive to pictures.

Here is what I did

The whistle (or MY whistle) is coming from all the bracketry that holds the windshield up and adjusts it. If you look at it from the top - inside, you will see tons of small openings.

What I did was take a long piece of electrical tape and run it on the headlight side (from underneath the windshield) across the bracket. I still had a tiny whistle - so I too another piece and ran it across the top of the bracketry (on the top dash-side) (I could send a picture of that but it is black tape, so it wont show up too well) - I also cut a couple of small pieces to fill the two pieces on the that don't really fit with 1/2" electrical tape. You'll see what I mean.

My whistle is totally gone. You could probably do this with black silicone - it just might be a pain to remove should you want to take off the windshield.
