Thanks for the link Shiny. From it I found other rides on H Mark's website and found that the road I picked in my preliminary route planning, identified as "NFD 50 Road" on Google Maps, appears to be his "Secret Road"! ...
Can you provide a link to H Mark's site? I've heard of the guy...
Hmmmm... didn't I get if from you? I was referring to the content on MicaPeak.com. Worked backwards from your Spiral Highway link to get https://micapeak.com/rides.

Ugh, that would require a BBG out and Back to fit into my schedule this year.

Moscow Idaho....some sweet memories from the last one there. And some not so sweet, like the skunk on the road at 11.00 pm at nite as I cruised into Moscow. Nicked it with my front tire and it really stunk for the next few miles. Great roads, most deserted, but no fekkin mountains like that in the back ground....maybe rollings potatoe fields, but no snow capped mountains!!!

No mountains near Moscow?

You aren't in the mountains but some of the best mountain riding is very close by.

Yep!

Missoula, MT is only 145 mi if you want to ride across Hwy 12 and the Lolo Pass. That'd be a 490 mile day ride through some beautiful scenic mountains.

IIRC, the loop around the East shore of Lake Coeur D'Alene (Hwy 97?) is only 220-240 miles, and that was beautiful.

AND...there's always riding through the Sawtooth on the way TO WFO. :yahoo:

I's just sayin'.......ch-ch-ch-choices.

I just did a google search for Spiral Highway....I didn't did any further.... I'm just a lazy SOB! ;)
I think its also called the Old Grade Road. Goes up the hill from the north side of the river at Lewiston to the hwy (95 ?? ). If you blink you will miss it. Not very long but loads of fun. :yahoo:

On my Mapsource it's called "Old Spiral Highway" as does Google Maps. It's 6 miles north of the Hwy 12/Hwy 95 junction. IIRC, there is an overlook and that is worth the stop.

The road is only 7.3 miles long and dead-ends @ Hwy 128, 1 mile West of the Hwy 12/Hwy 128 junction.

If you "blow up" Google Maps it is easy to spot just West of the Hwy 12/Hwy 98 junction-overpass.

just checkin around Moscow, Id., scenic highways and such and came up with some teasers. An interesting combination of roads and climates. From farm country and rolling hills to awesome gorges, rivers, and mountains. Click on the "Select A By-way" tab and some of these roads with pics will be made available..... Scenic Highways

Let the fun begin....PM. <>< :yahoo:
