I hope I don't get reprimanded by the moderator, but nothing gained if nothing ventured. If so, my apologies.

Has it ever been considered to add a forum in the "General Motorcycle Forum" for a FJR VS forum? So any topic pertaining to: what bike to buy, or FJR vs 1200GT, or FJR road reviews, or should I trade my Vstrom in for an FJR, etc, or even the one I started "AE or not to AE" would be solely placed in that forum. And the versus topics have to include the FJR. Thus all other non-FJR versus topics go to the "Other Bike" forum.

Wondering if anyone else likes this idea? Of course I don't own this board so it's per the decision of the board moderators and owners.

I'm all for this type of sub forum because I don't give a rats ass about how my FJR compares to any other bike. I like my FJR and no matter how good a competitor is, it won't matter until I decide to get rid of this one. Only then will I choose to enter such a forum.

Good idea!!! What's it take to implement such a sub forum? Do you need signatures?

+1

I think it's an unnecessary additional section. If the subject line of your post is descriptive enough people can choose to read it (or not) based on the info you provide.

I think it would be handy for noobs who are looking at getting an FJR, instead of starting the 122nd thread on "How does the FJR compare to the new Honsaki 2400" they could look there (or be directed there by a dog-pile :yahoo: ).

If the admins do decide to add this I think it should be open to all bike comparisons, many forum members have more than one bike and it would be a good place for the "R1 vs. Gixxer" or "VStrom vs. KTM vs. BMW GS" threads.

Hmm. Now there's a good use for it that I hadn't considered. Too late to change my vote, but I'm a fence-sitter now.

That's a great idea. Yeah, one forum for all vs topics.

Reprimanded certainly not....ignored very possibly.

I've been on this forum too long and seen way too many "us vs. them" threads that start out as one bike against another. Sometimes they start out about some point or difference between a bike...but so often turn into wholesale value judgements about "them".....and then even sometimes questions how their mama raised them or how few IQ points they have.

Slamming other makes, models, and riders just seems dumb to me. One could say..they often recur.....seem never-ending....and often become pointless. Already a perfect area for that.

I kinda like reading the US versus THEM comparisons, (mainly to reinforce my decision for picking the right bike!), but do we need a separate category to place these posts in? Naaaa There's plenty enough categories already.

Not necessary, IMHO.

Plus, kinda pushin' it to be 20 days old here and 10 posts deep and start making suggestions on how to rearrange the place, no?

Have to agree. Already enough sections. Comparing our bike to others seems natural to me. Bashing other makes and riders seems unnatural. As mentioned there are many members here who own more than one make and model. PM. <>< :D

First... No. I've already offered my apologies if there is offense. So you're offended, then I apologize.

Second, others have responded that we don't need a board to bash other makes. I never stated, hinted, or implied that my suggestion would be for bashing. I don't want to be part of a club that has to bash others. I've always seen a hospitable attitude on this board, which is why I joined. I would not want to counter against the great spirit of the riders here.

Third... yes, I've only been a member for a few short days. I respect those who've been here longer and I respect those who've been riding longer than I have. But it was only a question and not criticism or a demand. There was no intent on a "better way" to arrange this forum or that it's not being managed effeciently. Surely people here would not be putting words into my mouth that aren't true?

There have been new members in the past that immediately complain that this forum isn't being run like "Forum X" or complained the admins are doing it all wrong or the wrong software is being used.

There have also been threads that there are too many sub sections here........ and threads that there aren't enough.

I'm sure BD saw this and was reminded of all those threads.

I understand that many newbies have been critical of the forum layout. So it makes sense that someone with senority will inspect for the motive. It was just a question and no harm and no foul intended. So I'm cool with BD et al. No biggie. B)

Let's just go ride.

Oh darn, I can't... still waiting for my employer to release my friggen' paycheck (long story.... looking for new job this weekend) so I can pick up my 07. I guess it should be "you guys go ride" and I'll meet you down the road soon.

Nahh, Brundog is just a crotchety old timer! Quit makin' excuses for him. :p ;)

I tend to get more "vs" information out of a bonafide magazine from the pros if I'm looking to compare. Certainly there is some value in the average Joe's opinion, but I'm usually looking for just a bit "more" when I'm comparing and preparing for a purchase. I can usually find that by investing a few bucks in a professional publication.

woah...

I believe that there is enough forums for just about any topic already...

I also believe Tocutter concurs with this statement...
