What do you store under the seat?

I have a small toolkit from my old Honda plus insurance card and registration in a zip lock bag.

I see some of have said OEM toolkit, should that have been included with a 2012?

You did look under the pilot's seat right? There's an empty space under the passenger seat that looks like it should be there but it'll likely be under the pilot's seat. I actually just moved mine to that very spot under the passenger seat last night to make room for some wiring.

The OEM toolkit was included with my 2012 under the driver seat. :)

Just bought the bike late last summer and haven't really got everything scoped out yet. The little underseat storage areas seem like a good place for "stuff". I see some have installed a fuse block in part of it. What else gets put there? Manual?, more tools? space blanket?
Tools, leatherman, flashlight, helmet cable, first aid kit, reg & ins., bungees & tie down straps, i think that's it...

Tools, Starcom, Power Commander, extra gloves, manual, tape, zip ties, and some other small junk.

OEM tool kit, Owner's Manual, Slime air compressor + plug kit, amplirider, fuze block, owner's manual. Lots of wires going to battery, RD, Zumo 550, Battery tender outlet, heated vest, and audio plug. I think that's about it!

Don't want to take a picture, it's pretty scary!

Have to laugh at myself on that one. :D Of all the other bikes I have seen there has been zero space under the pilots seat for anything so I just assumed. Plus seeing the space under the passenger seat where I always saw it before, I just thought it didn't come with one. I just pulled the pilot seat off for the first time and sure enough there it was along with a whole lot more space than I expected to see. Thanks for pointing out what was right in front of my face. :dribble:

So with this extra space I will add a box of "rain coats" just in case the wife says, take me home or lose me forever. :p

LOL, don't know what kinds of bikes you've been riding. I'm from a more sporty background. Usually under the passenger seat you can fit a sandwich (with sliced bread, not a subway sub) so under the pilots seat is where the tools usually are. Glad I could help and glad you have it and didn't have to go raise a stink at the dealership!

Many people seem to carry the manual, not sure why anyone would need it on the road.

Most likely issues you would face on the road are tire issues, or simple electronics ... so I carry an air compressor, tire repair kit with plugs, extra valves, pressure gauge, air hose with a lock-on tire chuck on one side and standard inflation chuck on the other ... so you can "borrow" air from another tire to quickly fill (or seat the bead) on a deflated tire, then fill back up with the air compressor. Leatherman tool, led flashlight X2, the OEM tool kit, folding utility knife, electrical tape, some extra fuses and a short coil of 14g automotive wire, and a couple of heavy duty zip ties.

Some good ideas here, Thanks!!

OK, serious answer.

In tool tray, I keep the tools bag that came with the bike, plus a couple of better wrenches. Registration in a plastic baggie, which also contains the side-case hole covers so they don't get lost. I have a fuse box immediately in front of the tool tray, where I get power for my upgraded horns, a 12-volt plug that also lives in the tool tray, and an air compressor that lives way back in front of the taillights. The Audiovox Cruise control is right under the tool tray on the right side, but that doesn't count. It's where I keep it, though! :) Under the passenger seat is the Power Commander, a package of sticky string tire plugs, and the aforementioned guts of a 12V air compressor.

It's the perfect place for a spare key, being locked and secure so no one would find it accidently while looking over your bike!

You are right. Unfortunately, those of us who have ABS don't have that nice big empty space there.

Hmmm... so, if one were to lose their key and be in need of using the spare, how would one get to it under the locked seat??
