I don't have the actual db #'s for the Nautilus, but I did my own "unofficial" sound test between the Magnum Blasters and Freeway Blasters. Identical output level at 110db at 10'. The only difference is the tones they put out.FJRandy may have some db tests for the Compact Horns. Stebel says they are 139db.
I got so sick of the bickering back and forth here about which horn is louder that I just did my own test.
Stebel's 139db rating at 4" (yes FOUR INCHES) is a joke. I would think by the time you deafen a dear at 4" with 139db, it already became your hood ornament. 10' is getting more towards a realistic distance.
BTW, I DID measure the Magnum Blasters at 4", or very close to that distance anyway. I didn't write it down, but I believe the level was just under 130.
My sound level meter only goes to 130, but you can tell by watching the needle if it's close to that or way beyond. The Magnums and Freeway Blasters never "pinned" the needle at 4", but came close.
I also got my hands on another set of FIAMM horns that look like larger versions of the stockers. HOLY SHIT they're loud too! The sound is like a 1960's Mercedes. I'll have to dig them out and find part #'s.
Also, I'd like to shed some light on this whole "compressor lag" thing. I've found that a hose length no longer that 3' or so WILL NOT add any lag when you hit the horn button! The lag is caused by one of two things.......too small wire size, or poor connections to batt/grnd. If anyone would like to hear for themselves, I'll gladly go out to the garage with the phone and let you hear the so-called "lag". (yeah right)
Funny, I never measured the db output of the compact Nautilus. I guess because it's so EFFIN' loud I could care less what the db level is!
