Just got my new FJR home. The dealer has misplaced the owners manual. What is the square piece of plastic by the glove box for? You can press on it like it may be for a garage door opener......... <_<

I believe that is where earlier models had their hazard warning light button mounted. Now it is on the right bar. If you remove the panel, you will see that the 'square' can be removed seperately - perhaps a "future-farkle" spot.

That is where the heated grip control is placed on the AE's.

you didn't say but I assume you have an '06. That area is where the heated grip control goes. So, looks like you can add anything you want there, but pushing on it as it is will never open your garage door :lol: :dntknw:

That is, unless you want to actually put the HEATROLLER there.

Matt, your right. One of these is directly to the battery, the other is switched power.

My dealer put the controller off the clutch resovoir. first time installing such a unit and i have been going round and round with them to install it in the square cutout.. Apparently there is a bracket that comes with the yamaha heated grips to install it off the resovoir. If anyone has any input please please please email me.

Dealer put it there because he installed the grip heaters from an '05 and earlier model. He ordered kit 5JW-W0792-01-00

He needs to provide the kit for the '06 to do it right: 5EA-W0792-00-00 if my research is correct.

You are right on the money. I just found out today that the 06 kit is not available yet and the dealer installed the 03-05 kit which looks like crap. Hopefully they are ordering the kit and when available they will install it properly.. By the way are the hand grips shorter on the 03-05 kit? There seems to be more of a gap on the 06 than should be. Thanks Everett
