Not sure where to place this so I'll do it here...(sorry admins is this is incorrect)

Can anyone tell me exactly what came with their 06A (or other) bike when you purchased it?

As an example, I know they come with paint matched caps for the bag mount spots and a owners manual but what else?

There seems to be some contention from my dealer on exactly what came with the bike as mine didn't have anything. Not even an owners manual.

I've been looking around and can't find a definitive on this question. Some people mention bag covers, a couple little stips of rubber and .....??

Appreciate it.

I have an 06AE, but it should be the same. Mine came with the manuals, the caps, the bag liners, and an extra key-matched lock for the trunk. From what I have read from others on this forum all new FJR's should come with all of that.

agree -

should come with manual (not shop manual, but owner's manual)

saddle bag liners

trim caps for when the bags on on

saddle bags (2)

locks for bags (3) - they should include the matching lock for the top case in case you buy one

2 rubber stops for the bag mounts

some plastic stick on for where the bags mount to prevent rubbing of paint - these should be in the bag or the saddle bag liner packaging

2 keys (get a couple more or go have some made)

full tank of gas

two tickets to the superbowl

a naked dancing girl

and a partridge in a pear tree.

Don't forget the super-deluxe tool kit...

Others may remember more but here goes........

owner's manual

spare key

tool kit

three key matched locks for the bags and top case (optional)

side bags with inner bags come later from the dealer but included in the sale price

enough gas to get to the gas staion across the street  :D

Thanks for the quick replies. I had thought as much.

I should probably write up a "dealer experience" thing but needless to say, it's been less than stellar. As a preview, first they tried to tell me that the third lock didn't come with the bike. Then upon being pressed by me, stated that it did come with the bike but was a special order they had to make. Then upon being pressed by me further produced said lock and handed it to me 10 minutes later.

Just one of the many things I can share so far about this perticular experience.

Mine came with the 3rd lock. It came with the covers for the bag slots. It came with a tool kit (which none of my other recent bikes did). It came with the saddlebag liners (and they're NICE!!). It came with a 10% discount on parts and accessories forever.

You'll probably get a customer satisfaction survey from Yamaha in a couple of months. There's a lot of questions about the "dealer experience".

Just to head off potential future bickering, the bag liners are apparently free accessories only in the US. I know ya gots to pay in the UK.

It almost sounded like your dealer had never been under the seat to find your stuff, until you said they produced the third lock when pressured. If you bought the bike new, you are entitled to these things. Every other 06A purchaser I'm aware of on this forum got these things. You should get these things, too...from your dealer...for free.

To summarise:

Aside from the vehicle itself:

1. You should have a pair of bags (installed). Make sure they loctited the torx screws at the backs of the locks or you may be looking for a bag that has gone missing at some point.

2. You should get 2 bag liners. (no bag liners in Canada)

3. There should be two keys in total (3 in Canada - one with a red plastic surround)

4. You get a spare cam lock keyed the same as the ignition and bags in case you decide to buy the Yamaha top box.

5. There is an owners' manual

6. There is a manual on the hard bags (it shows how to install them and where the various bits of paint protection go).

7. You should have 6 clips that are popped out when you mount the bags. (If the bags weren't mounted you may have the caps installed on the bike - and a bunch of parts in the bags and the extra 2 locks all separate). Read the bag instruction manual and make sure they installed the paint protection stickers.

8. There should be a cheesy tool kit in a vinyl pouch.

If you are missing any of the above, your dealer owes you them. Period..

Pretty much a rehash of #16 on the New Users FAQ Welcome to the board new guy. I highly suggest the several dozen other items on that FAQ. Very helpful stuff!

Thanks Ignacio. The FAQ has been extrememly helpful and a big hats off to everyone who put hard work into it/them.

Once I actually get my bags (still at the dealer...another long story) I'll be checking the locks to ensure correct sealing per the FAQ and several other tidbits gleaned from this site.

Again, thanks!

I think the nakid dancing girls would be a great touch, but would probably just give me a heart attack :)

One small item you should receive with the spare key is a small rectangular tag with a number code stamped on it. That is your key code that will allow you to replace your keys if you were to lose both of them. It would be a good idea to write this code in your owner's manual (provided they gave you one). I wrote it in my manual and the manual escaped and I never found it. That and an elusive sock or two. Whatever happens to this stuff, I'll never know!

Oh yeah, don't forget to tell Yamaha how much these people SUCK when you get your followup owner's happiness survey in a couple of months.
