Ok, so the SQ pulls me over for a measly 28 over shortly before I hit the ON border. Stuffed the paperwork in my tank bag and haven't given it much thought until now. The entire document is in French! WTF am I supposed to do with this?

There is an address and phone number to obtain the statement of offense in English so I guess I'll do that but in the meantime,

- What happens in Quebec if you do not pay within the 30 days?

- Anyone know if they have a reciprocal agreement with Alberta w.r.t. fine collection and points?

- Any easy 'out'?

Advise appreciated!

It's too bad you're not in New Brunswick which is, I believe, the only Officially Bilingual province in the country. I think Quebec is not officially bilingual.

That said, a french-speaking chap here recently had his ticket dismissed (I think it was a DUI; may have been speeding ) because the LEO who stopped him couldn't deliver the service in the guy's language of choice = french. It's The Law :glare:

There must be an address on the ticket. Why don't you just mail a cheque? Unless, of course, you intend to contest it.

You may have a leg to stand on. But between phone calls and a lawyer, it would likely be a somewhat Pyrrhic victory :(

Good luck with this Jeff

You are so going to jail!
worse...they are deporting you to France.
Got you covered, Brother Jeff! Simply say you have changed professions, changed your name and you are now residing in The United States. Then simply give them all of your new information:

Mr. Barry Clark

8XX Kenwood Drive

Owosso, Michigan 488XX

928-925-68XX

PM me for the missing numbers!

Most of the time, going past the due date just gets more expensive. I agree, tell them yer from Owosso and you only know how to speak sheep, n'est ce pas?

Hey Jeff

don't sweat it. They can tack on a couple bucks if your a little late. If you want to fax or scan & send it, feel free. But if it's just 28 over, then french or english, it's just a plain ol' speeding ticket.... Did they write you up at 128? The didn't even drop it to 110? *******s. 128 is 3 points, methinks.

I recently got nailed just before the ontario border too, at 132 but the guy dropped it to 110 and said it's only 1 point / $98 instead of 3 points and... I think it was upwards of $300, no? *******S!

You can pay the ticket online - on the back, there should be a web address. If not, let me know and I'll look-up & send you the info.

Andre
