Let's see, the car has a mounted camera on and running, how many of us take a casual drive on the highway with a camera on? The first reaction of the passenger was, "Don't start a race". Why would that phrase come so readily to the lips of the passenger? When you change lanes or accelerate is that the first thing your passenger says? Maybe it's just a language thing, but why would his pursuing the motorcycles be called 'Hunting Motorcycles'?

It sure seems that we are watching a narcissistic serial ********. Someone needs to buy the passenger a remote ignition kill switch.

Or.... maybe it was totally setup and staged so that they could get views or points or whatever the viral video making types call it these days... $$$

2.5 million views so far, and a nice commercial to begin with... gotta be a couple dollar bills there no?

Wow, what a great performing car and acceleration.

At one point the car hit 280 km (173 mph)and was still pulling for more, nice and stable performing car.

Perhaps it would have been a different outcome, if there was a more skillful rider on the bike

My brother in law just got back from an Audi driving school in or near San Fran last week. (His wife got the race days for him for his birthday)

They started him in a TT in a parking lot with cones, moved him to an RS5 for corner practice, and then put him on a track in an R8.

He's owned an S4 and then an S6, and he said that the R8 made those cars and the RS5 seem like slugs. (the S's and RS are incredibly fast, incredible handiling cars)

The R8 is a supercar.. no doubt about that.

His drive isnt posted yet (i think it was Nov 15th.. ) but here is the link to see this car on a racetrack (Clicky) too bad it's behind a pace car... but the track looks like it'd be a lot of fun on the Feej.

Audi has a huge following in the ALMS series - they've won like 95% of the races over the past 6-8 years. I was at the Circuite of the Americas race in September and the R8 was used in the lower class races, sports car club races, etc. A new R8 was on display at the Audi tent. IIRC, you can buy that car for well under 100K - I remember thinking it was an excellent buy. Not quite as good a value as the Corvette, but maybe a better car.

If i was going to go for best value per dollar (for a brand new, stock, unmolested, sportscar).. Nissan GTR.. hands down.

The FJR is faster through the 1/4 mile than all of three 3 aforementioned cars ;)

GTR be cool until the transmission breaks under launch control and they void your warranty for USING the launch control they put into the ECU.

And what's with this quarter mile crap? I thought we resolved that living your life a quarter mile at a time isn't living. Fast in a straight line is boring.

I was in my local Nissan dealer over the weekend and while waiting for my sister to pick me up I saw I was standing next to a new GTR. Couldn't believe the price, almost $100K and size of the front brake rotors. They looked to be wider than 1/2 inch, maybe 3/4" vented and big diameter. Very nice but I can't imagine driving it anywhere in western Washington, especially in the greater Seattle area which seems to be blessed with a lot of drivers that need their skills re-evaluated. I'm being kind here.
