I would consider my first "big kid" bike the '70 CL(?) 90 that Pa bought for my brother & I to share. Had a full sized frame, plenty of pep for us at the time (we were 14 & 15 at the time) What great times we had, until we got individual bikes, then even more so...

OH pedal bikes, Dangit!

I had a really cheap green bike. When I was 4, 20"wheels, banana seat. Left it in the drive way and it got stole. Then Parents bought me the first BMX bike Schwinn tried to make. Scrambler I believe..... I was 7 years old when I got that thing.... I still have it. It is in my garage. I just cant seem to part with it. It hasn't been ridden in 20 years or better.

My first bike was a Whizzer motor bike when I was in 2nd yr. of highschool. My friend had one also and we rode the devil out of them. I lived on a farm 5 miles from school so if the weather was good I rode it to school.

When the weather turned bad that fall I decided to become a Whizzer mechanic and tore the engine apart to see if I could make it run better.

My 3rd yr of high school I finally convinced my father to trade in a box of Whizzer motor parts and the frame in on a 1944 Harley , 45 cu. in. , foot clutch and 3 speed hand shift on the left side of the tank. I rode the devil out of that for that year . Had one accident where I missed a curve going about 60 mph. Of course my jeans, harley hat and low quarter shoes kept me from getting hurt very badly.

Then my Senior yr. I got a 1946 ford coupe . I got the most popular color , Black. Then I discovered girls and the whole world changed.

Got back in the motorcycle business after I got out of the Service in 1957.

Great memories.

Mac
