Hi, im new here! In the market for a reliable, sporty, wont break the bank sport touring that is able to give me trouble free long distance riding. I came across this green fjr1300 at an auction with only 10,000 km (about 6k miles) on her. Not very much detail on the bike, only that it has been serviced, has abs, and no issues with it. But the seller did not mention the year of the bike, for you fjr experts my question is what year is it? Any common issues to look for in that year? How much would you price it?  It appears it doesnt come with the panniers

Not a color that made it to North America.  Is this the original paint?

Definately a Gen I bike.  With ABS, I think it would be 2004 or 2005.

You're correct it is not US spec, its middle east spec.

How reliable are gen 1's? What would you price it at?

Gen I bikes are very reliable.  Despite the low mileage,  I would replace the cam chain tensioner sooner rather than later. There were issues with the original design that could allow the cam chain to skip and ruin the engine. Other than that, some Gen I bikes had problems with the rear ABS block.  Not easily repaired but will usually function as a non ABS if they freeze up.  Flush system with fresh fluid annually and "exercise" it regularly - by hard braking on sandy or wet surface, or by using a jumper to accomplish ABS diagnostics- procedure can be found on the forum.

Can't really say anything about the value of this bike in your market.  In the USA, it might go for $3,000 or so.  Low mileage but without the panniers.  Assume overall condition is good.

EDIT to add blurb on brake diagnostic function - unfortunately images are gone.

I will be bidding on it! cam tensioner seem simple enough, hopefully the bike is clean as the seller only provided one photo. Thank you for your time and help Ross
