Location
Sandown, NH
Since dcarver shared his backyard wildlife with us, I thought I would add mine. I have revivified dcarvers backyard interloper because its condition in the pictures he posted was a bit rough. I took this picture in NH -- bet ya didn't know we had these did ya. The State Wildlife Department hides the location where these can be found so someone doesn't go totally dcarver on them.

This started roosting in our back yard last fall, it's back again this spring and summer. We did a wellness check on our neighbors and their pets ;) It looks like a B-52 when it flies in, it is huge beyond belief.

Yum, I smell your raw beef -- Wait, wait!!! Your not going to put that in the fire are you?

Well, grilling that beef sure ruined a good meal.

That squirrel hasn't moved in a long while, maybe I'll go check it out...

Hhmmm, that cat hasn't moved in a long while either, I'm starting to drool.

Ferel hogs. They totally destroyed many sections of the neighborhood until somebody "took them out". Ahem.

Becoming a real problem in most of the central and southern states. Don't approach them, they'll charge. Can be up to 500 lbs.

I don't have any photos, but wifey and I were on a walk through the neighborhood one evening when we heard a racket coming from some robins across the street. Seems that mommy and daddy robin were objecting to a hawk/falcon/sharp-beaked critter sitting near their nest munching on one of the babies. Wifey walks across the street to try and scare it away. Predatory bird flies away with baby robin in it's talons...with mommy and daddy robin in vain, noisy pursuit.

A scene not shown in the Disney films growing up. Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom maybe...but not Disney.

I have a tree, some bushes, patio furniture, and some kids toys. Oh, and my 2 dogs and lots of their poop. What do I win???

I've got all kinds of creatures.

I haven't been able to get a good picture yet, but there has been a very successful reintroduction or bald eagles in the Catskills and now I have to keep a careful watch on my small dog when she's outside.

We also have lots of rabbits and turkeys. These seem to increase in a cycle opposite from the cycle of the coyote population. ;)

I'm sure that I will never get photos but we have three models of hawks that nest either on or near our property. We have two large bird feeding stations which is part of the draw, the other part is the type, size and shape of the trees we have around the feeding stations.

The little Sharp Shinned hawk streaks though the trees and knocks off smaller birds with high speed concussive strikes, plucking them off branches and the feeders. We have a Broad Winged hawk that takes out small to mid size birds on the ground. We have several Northern Goshawks that come screaming down from the top of our huge old Norwegian Spruce tree and destroys big birds on the ground, grabs the big birds in its talons then sits back in the tall trees and shreds dinner. One clever Goshawk has discovered that it can come flashing in toward our house and flush a whole flock of birds, many of which will crash into our living room windows leaving them stunned on our deck and the ground. The hawk then sorts out its favorite, grabs it and zips off again. It is common to look out the windows and discover little bird size patches of feathers stuck to the glass from where they strike. If I'm sitting at my computer and hear the clang(s) of birds off the glass I can usually get to the window with enough time to see the hawk leaving with dinner.

There is a nest of Red-Tailed hawks across the street that has produced young every year for a long time. Some of our neighbors have little dogs and the ones that run a Pug rescue have to keep the dogs in a pen outside that has a chain link cover to keep them from becoming dinner.

We have uncountable numbers of gray squirrels and at any given time at least 2-3 have less than a whole tail and I believe it is the handy work of the Goshawks.

Notice the red spot on the Turkey Vulture's chest? That's a pouch where they store food immediately after feeding. They guy is about full. when it's empty it is covered by feathers. Pretty cool shots.

Bro' Alan: This's what's in my backyard right now, he's drinking my beer and eating my leftover pizza. NOTE: I'll trade him for rattlesnakes, vultures, wolves, feral hogs...

Yeah I know... What dastardly deed am I guilty of to deserve such mistreatment?

Is Tom the "live in" help?

I see you don't let him outside much, do you?
No kidding Wheatie, what is the deal with these Canuckistanis and their ultra pasty white legs? I thought Bungie's legs were revoltingly disgusting enough.

Totally different story with MEM though, Papa Chuy loves those gorgeous gams!

Here's a couple of links to wildlife in my front yard. Oops, my bad, Alan wanted back yard shots, my apologies.

(Full screen works better for viewing their breakfast jumping)

Since you are a left coaster you can use front yard pixs. Especially when the critters are cool.
