All I got in my backyard are weeds but unfortunately not the type you smoke....Imagine the thought that passed through my mind yesterday when I went out back and seen this!!!

O, Woe is me!!
No picture, but a sound bite from last night of how the amphibious wildlife gets all excited after it rains for a while. I recorded it while standing in my back door.

There used to be a Law Enforcement Feral Hog Hunt down by Lordsburg, NM. The hunters had to use their duty handguns. I heard it was a frigging blast, but they stopped holding it a year or two before I came on.Bacon anyone?
Ferel hogs. They totally destroyed many sections of the neighborhood until somebody "took them out". Ahem.
Becoming a real problem in most of the central and southern states. Don't approach them, they'll charge. Can be up to 500 lbs.
I really want to go to Texas and help some farmer by harvesting some of them. I bet between our freezer and my mom's and sister's freezers, we could easily process 6 of them. Yum.....

I have a remedy, meet my Norwegian Forest Cat. This is a kitten picture from when he was a little over a year old. Wegies have true webbed feet to snow-shoe with, is a strong swimmer and can run up and down trees chasing anything and everything. If you have squirrels that need disassembling, this is your cat. Will work for what he can catch. He is NOT a catch and release type.These little killers are taking over...

Back to What is in Your Backyard, I'll include these flying squirrels. When they were tiny babies they fell down our chimney and got stuck in our wood stove. We built a huge cage for them and hand raised them to adults. In this first picture there are actually 3 squirrels in the tiny bird seed cup.
There was a strong desire to keep them as pets but free is where they need to be. Approaching adult size:
I built them this home after researching their needs. We put the house in their cage so they could move in and get accustom to it before we moved it outside. When we went to release them we stuffed the house with food to help them out, put a cork in the hole then I climbed way up a white pine tree and hung the box. They and the next generations still live in the house as our outdoor pets. You can see a little face peeking out of the house.

The chipmunks are fun to watch, just not too crazy about all the burrows. Last week I was grilling out on the back deck and one came flying up the steps from the yard and got about 3 feet away and finally saw me, stopped on a dime, turned and jetted back where he came from. I'm not sure which one of us was more startled!

Ionbeam, good lookin' cat there! I've never heard of them. We just got a new chief of security back on 7/2/11.
He's not quite trained yet...he's only 11 weeks old now.
He keeps sleeping on the job! Either that or he's just playing around or eating!
He has some big pawprints to fill...we had to put down our almost 16 yo Himalayan due to kidney failure. I still miss her sometimes. He's been a big distraction though!

Good looking cats there not2shabby and ionbeam, I'm a cat lover as well as a dog lover. You guys have given me an idea, maybe if I put a Bengal Tiger in my backyard it will take care of my SkooterG infestation for me!

You could say that. The pic of him sleeping next to the paper was taken after I'd been brushing his belly for 10 minutes! He's like a puppy, if you move to a different room, he'll follow. He's a silver chinchilla persian, so he'll lose some of the shading he has now. I hope not too much though.

Brother Alan, there's an outside chance Bustanut joker may be flying into Phoenix for SW-FOG 2011. If that does happen, he'll be staying at my house and riding Miss Lucy Liu up and back to Toas, Nuevo Mexico.
