...uhh, why not just CBA it and stop at the great little restaurant, have a nice meal, flirt with waitress, enjoy the ambiance, then get back on the road?

I'd say just open your trap and eat flies, but I used that on your stimulant thread. So the truth, I eat M&Ms whlst moving sugar and protein with a little fat. They are not "balanced" but they are easy to get in helmet. Once I stop I have an assortment of snacks with me. But for stable energy you probably want to go to a health food store and get some protein bars. Your body actually burns protein and fat (to produce energy) at the same rate (I aint shittin you here). Protein bars are good energy. Cliff bars are good too but they are more carb based and tend to burn out by about 30 min Whey protein will keep you rolling for a couple hours. Try the "Oh Yeah" bars; one taste and you'll know how they got their name (or so they say...but their not bad for 24 g of whey protein). Careful, some protein bars do have stims in them and this will just destablize your energy.

but seriously now..... I never tried this cause, after riding 100+ miles bicycle races, I see no need to torture myself on a motorcycle, but you could do the camel pack and mix a slury of whey protein and, like, a hydration drink, you would be feeding yourself every time you hydrated. But if you were really serious.... Maybe add some baby food, I hear the Gerber carrots and peas are actually quite good mixed in with a little rice cerial and apricots. A nice thick slury of fruits and vegies with some protein and water... just get one of those fuel cells like warchild, and a good pair of Depends and I bet you wont have to get off the bike for 24 hours :)

-best of luck on whatever you try thought :)

A decent meal before going, then...

Water water water in a nalgene bottle with a straw thingy,

Peanut M&Ms,

Cheesy crackers, pre-opened,

Lemonade or Gatorade.

And I totally believe in the power of the <30-second road-shoulder stop to re-situate things.

Bob

Don't forget the cheesy poofs.

edit:......or the chicken pot pie.

Ride to Trader Joe's. Pick up Sunflower seeds, almonds, peanuts, raisins, pistachios and walnuts (all unsalted except for the sunflower seeds). Mix ratio os 2-2-2-1-1- .5.

Stick in some small freezer bags, keeps for the length of the trip, keeps hunger away until I'm ready for a real meal.

That's worked fine the last 3 LD rides...
