What a radical concept, a loud vehicle noise being generated by the engine and not the exhaust gas handling system!

I was thinking about putting a microphone in my exhaust and wiring it up to my headphones so I could pretend to have a louder exhaust without bothering anyone else.

I assume the whole concept comes from the same type who drive around with their car stereos blasting and the windows down. Because of course we all want to share in the experience of their impeccable musical taste. I put my windows down and crank up NPR when one of them is next to me at a stoplight. Nothing like Sylvia Poggioli screaming out your windows to amp up the cool factor.

Doesn't each decibel equate to one horsepower? Or maybe each decibel equates to a shortcoming in certain anatomical areas.
