Where is the FJR built? Does Yamaha have an essembly plant in the states or is it built in Japan and shipped over?

My 2012 is on order, man I can't wait until my baby arrives.

While you are waiting, do a Google search on Yamaha PDP for FJR1300. For the early Gen I, sight unseen, we put an nonrefundable deposit on a bike that could take 8 to 16 months to be delivered.

Relax and be assured any delay is worth it.

Because of the storm damages in Japan, all of the future FJR's will be produced at the north pole,.....after the Christmas rush.

Where's that recent photo of the unfortunate container ship on it's way from Japan with FJRs...it's really too bad about the upcoming delay.

Oh dayum...Isn't that container front right; the one under water the one with the 2012 FJRs in it?? Shame really.

It'a been a long time since this forum has gotten to f==k with a waiter. It used to be an annual rite of passage.

Oh, the good old days.

Yup, classic post. Ah the PDP, pre-delivery program. Plop down your $500 deposit and wait in misery for around 6 months. Meanwhile on the forum watching container ships sinking in foul weather and disaster, and getting rubbed by all the veteran FJR owners. Scary part was I never even seen one in a dealership and saw only one parked at the races at Infineon and in pics. Those were the days. PM. <>< ;)

Yeah, I remember those days...Oh, wait a minute, no I don't. I walked into a dealership and said, "How much do you want for that one?" Two hours later, I was headed up the Million Dollar Highway on my new FJR...

It is indeed made in Japan. An article I just saw from Motorcyclist Magazine mentioned this. Also, someone already asked this question on another forum. Another additional source you can check: CLICKY HERE.

Just curious, how much did it set you back? Did you buy it locally or did you have to do some traveling? Do you know if new '12s are available ANYWHERE yet, or is there a waiting list for everybody?
