Where's that recent photo of the unfortunate container ship on it's way from Japan with FJRs...it's really too bad about the upcoming delay.

Oh you are mean to the poor man! :(

I hate being the bearer of bad news but...

Wrong container, mine is in the blue one on dock that slamed up against the building. :)

Where is the FJR built? Does Yamaha have an essembly plant in the states or is it built in Japan and shipped over?

My 2012 is on order, man I can't wait until my baby arrives.
It is indeed made in Japan. An article I just saw from Motorcyclist Magazine mentioned this. Also, someone already asked this question on another forum. Another additional source you can check: CLICKY HERE.

Just curious, how much did it set you back? Did you buy it locally or did you have to do some traveling? Do you know if new '12s are available ANYWHERE yet, or is there a waiting list for everybody?

Thanks for the info. I thought it would be in Japan but didn't come across anything that said that specifically.

As far as the price, it will be around $14K hopefully less. Not sure if orders are being taken, but I am in a very lucky situation. My father-in-law (who lives about an hour from me) is a Yamaha dealer so he was able to order one to put out on the floor. Nothing says what floor it has to be parked on or it can’t be sold before it hits his dock. He has received confirmation he will get it, approx delivery to the dealer late February or sometime in March. By the way that isn’t his cost, I told him before the order was placed I don’t want this to cost you any money, I have a job and I can pay my way; And I honestly don’t know what it cost him either. From what I understand I don’t think dealers will see a 2012 FJR until February sometime.

Since you will be able to know when it arrives, are you going to go over and watch it being born? Maybe take some pixs of the birth?

That was gross ionbeam! I hate those midwife birth deals... :dribble:
I think he wants to know where it was conceived, not where it was born.

Well then, he needs to ask a more accurate question now, don't he? ;)

Err, umm, well, he did ask about 'built', not reconstructed.

Hey Dean G, welcome to the forum.

I see that you live in upstate NY. I was up there to visit some friends in Sharon Springs this summer. Beautiful country. However, since you live in NY, at least you won't be the only one waiting for a few months to ride your bike. That'll give you plenty of time to read up on everything you ever wanted to know about an FJR on the forum. As a matter of fact, you can ever read up on everything you DIDN'T want to know on the forum as well.

Those pictures of the assembly at the dealership and the containership mishap really takes me back to the spring of '03. So many great rides, new friends and memories created since. Just parked my original FJR for the winter yesterday. 98,700 Km's and it still looks and rides better than new. Welcome to the fold of big grinning FJR riders.

Look on your VIN sticker, my UK FJR1300AS definately says "Made in Japan".

That's gonna be tough, since his is on order, not on hand.

Anyone else notice the OP's sig - his FJR was ordered by his wife. Give the guy credit - he's doing SOMEthing right.

And, to the OP - welcome! Check out the gatherings section - there's gonna be a nice lil' gathering of FJRs in August up in Vermont called NERDS. Come on up and be social!

Yep, Just walking in & buying one off the floor takes all the anticipation out of it. Back when I put my $500 down for my ’04, in April of ‘03, I had all the way until October till it came in. I had all those months; thinking about it, rubbing it, holding it tite, talking to the guys & gals here about it (it wasn’t the blue room then). Man, you are being deprived of so much & the shame of it is that you don’t even realize it. Just think about it---what if someone just gave you an ice cream cone or some one just offered you a piece of ah ah ah oh yes, a piece of pecan pie without you even ever wanting, wishing, longing, waiting, etc. for one. The fact is that it wouldn’t be near as good (the pie that is) as if you had time to build up your anticipation for it. Heck, the way it is now, I’m not sure I’d buy a new one now. I sorta feel sorry for them setting over in the corner, with dust all over them just pushed back out of the way, brand new but 2 years old. I feel bad for you man. I think I’ll go out and polish my MOKOs…Later,,, De Here's my new '04
