Specific to the 2006 model, has any one mounted a fuse block or terminal strip, etc. inside the front fairing?

I have seen many posts about the Blue Sea device under the 2006 seat, but what about the front fairing.

I know there is alot less room there than previous models. After taking the black panels off, it looks very tight inside the fairing. :(

Has anyone utilized this area and if so, what did you install and exactly where did you mount it?

Haven't seen anybody put one up front yet. Have you searched on +fuse +block +2006 and the variations yet? If so and you're not finding anything....it's probably because nobody has done it.

In which case, give her a try, and report back.

I think you could fit the Blue Sea 6 gang block in front of the glove box. Maybe. I have 3 cigarette plugs ganged over there, and they take up a lot of space.

However, I have my Blue Sea block under the seat, strapped on top of the big computer on top of the tray. My lowered Corbin seat still goes right over it. I think under the seat is a lot more convenient than shoe horned into the fairing, where you can't get to the fuses very easily.

Some farkles I have need 5 or 8 volts, and it's built into the cig plug. If Garmin or Delphi made a hard wire kit for those units, I wouldn't need cig lighter plugs. I haven't figured and easy, less cumbersome way to get around the plugs, so I leave the fuse in the plugs, but have adapted a dual cig socket that is wired to the Blue Sea fuse block. In the pic above you can barely see that there are a couple cig sockets and an extra SAE connector strapped into the slot where the tool pack goes. I relocated the tool kit to the very back of the tail.

I'm in the process of putting a fuse block, ground block, and 1 PHID ballast in my '06 glove box. I'm in the process of locating the relay and visualizing 12+- wire running to that location, what if I need to move the glove box for service, wire chafing.......

After mapping out how many wires would have to cross the engine bay with the fuse block under the seat <_< , up front looked very attractive. FWIW, If a fuse blows, I don't want to be somewhere at night with the fairing off just to swap a fuse. :angry2: With the rally clock running :angry2: The glove box or under seat seem like great spots.

I mounted my blue sea 6 fuse box w/ground bus on the left side air intake cover. It is between the cover and the silver side panel next to the seat. Relay is at the battery area.

Thanks to all for the response. :)

The ideas about the glovebox and the left side silver panel are interesting. I've located more than a few different parts/devices and am mulling over my options. I will probably decide how I'll do the install this weekend.

I installed a barrier strip on the left side much like the one mentioned in the above link https://www.fjr-tips.org/mods/pdb/pdb.html. I used zip ties that were left a little loose so I could rotate it and make adjustments. I ran the 12ga wire to the battery through the upper part of the front fairing and it wasn't easy. The hardest part for me besides that was getting the one panel that the headlight adjuster is connected to. I think I invented some swear words while getting that thing back on. Putting a barrier strip on the '06 under the fairing is possible, it's not as easy as on an '03. It was enough for me that I didn't even try putting on the negative barrier strip that I had planned on. I don't have any pictures but I hope this helps some.

I'm about to do the same project, any input would be appreciated.

After much thought, hands-on examination and gathering multiple devices....

I decided to mount a 6-gang Blue Sea box under the seat. [sigh]

BTW, NAPA auto parts has some solder-filled shrink tube connectors that are great, although expensive.

Is this where you Sparky's are hangin' out today? I'm hoping to get y'all's attention to beg for some help with some boneheaded questions from someone (me  ) who's mounting a power plate and has a left-over wire.

I promise I've read the previous Forum threads around this subject and looked at the links and all... :hypocritesmiley:

The difficulty I have with all those threads is that they already presume a certain level of electrical knowledge. Everyone presumes you already know what a relay IS, so no one ever says what it actually DOES. :cray:

Jb's Boneheaded Questions

Thank you in advance!
