Just got back from a 6 day, 3221.8 mile to be exact, road trip on my FJR. We had a great time (two bikes on trip), we started out in Las Cruces NM, headed West on I10 to I8 and boiled in 115 degree weather near Yuma AZ, but reached the coast soon enough and turned North. I have to say that I think some of CA's roads were built just for motorcycles. We followed the coast up to Ca's wine country then cut across to Yosemite. Talk about nice riding, Yosemite is the place, if you haven't been you should go. Next was Highway 6 through Nevada and half of Utah, This road started out well but quickly turned out to be one long stretch boring, I was glad to see Nevada leave my mirrors. Utah was a beautiful State to ride through, we caught the I70 as we were really wanting to get to Colorado though and I have to say that for Interstate travel, it was a great bit of road, very curvy and very beautiful. Colorado came in a close second to CA for its magnificent roads, and a lot less crowded. I do need to give a shout out to the FJR forum at this point and in specific to DaveT. We pulled into Woodland Park Co. and during our routine bike inspection, noticed the the front tire on my friends bike had deteriorated fast. If air had color we could have probably saw it through the rubber. Anyway after trying for some time to find a shop to replace it, I turned to my Forum emergency contact list, gave DaveT a call, and he directed us to Apex Sports who took great care of us. THANK YOU DAVE!. We then turned our bikes South and headed back into our own great State of NM and back to our own terrific roads. I added the following equipment to my bike just before this trip so if anyone would like my opinion just ask. Yamaha "Comfort Seat", Alasken, sheepskin seat cover, and J&M CB radio. Thanks again to all who gave me road info and to Dave for taking an otherwise frustrating process and making it pleasant for us. Maybe I'll get the chance to meet a few of you at Sturgis?
