I can find lots of info around prices paid and experiences with the regular A models... But what kind of discount are people getting on the 2008 AE's? I have used the search function and still can't find much in the way...

Sticker is mid 15's... People are getting leftover 07's in mid 12's it sounds like... But what kind of deal are people getting on 08's? Mentally, I'm shooting for 14k... Am I retarded, or is that realistic?

I'm a new guy... so please give me a little slack before harrassing me too much. :)

So, you're basically willing to pay $1500 or more for a little darker paint, which will be harder to keep clean-looking, meaning you will spend more time cleaning and less time riding?

Cerulean rules!

YMMV.

I have an A model, but if it were me... I'd go with an '07 at the lower price, and have some cash left over for tag, tax, and title.

Dude. You toss softballs like that around here and peeps will be swinging for the fence.

To find out what the best price is comparison-wise, call D&H Cycle in Cullman, AL (Do a search on the forum) and ask what they sell them for. Work up from there.

Or, get one of the heavily discounted 07s out there.

Good luck.

Can't help with the 08 AE price but I was at a dealer yesterday here in Socal and they had an 07AE with a sticker of 15,500 but on sale for 12,300 plus Tax and Title which is probably around another 1300. A price of 14 for a new 08 is probably a good deal to shoot for.

I just bought a regular trans FJR, but the salesman was showing me 3 new 07 auto FJRs that they bought at an auction. There must be an auction for the dealers to buy from, that other dealers do not want in their stock. You might call this dealer, and see how much they are selling them for. It is Snake River Yamaha in Boise, ID. I got a good deal from a salesman named Cory.

Good luck!

Lubbock Texas has on 07 for $11977.

I had a dealer here in Roanoke, Virginia willing to do 10500-11000 with 3 year YES. TTT not included. I am sorry, but I can't recall the exact figure. Shop a little more, the deals are out there. By the way, that dealer still has one.

Edit>> oops...2007.

Gunny +1 on calling D&H Cyles. You can find their address in the Vender and Dealer Feedback section of this forum. Give them a call , they will have the rock bottom price of anywhere in USA . I got an 08 1300a for 11999.00 plus tax and title. I think the 1300ae model is about $1500 more. Only problem with you being in Washington State is the Drive home. D&H will pick you up at the airport and treat you right if you want to break your new toy in right ;) .

'08 AE: my search on the web led to discounts of 6, 7, 8, 10 and 12 percent. Offered dealer 10 percent off msrp this week and he took an even 14,200 as a counter offer. Ready for the 600 checkup as we speak. BTW, the AE color for 08 is awesome in person compared to 07. Go for it. Let someone else buy the leftovers. No regrets.

I recently purchased an 08A for $11,478.00, but before I did I looked at two 07 AE's that were discounted $6,000 to approximately $10,600.

When I was considering purchasing an 07AE I got opinions from this forum on A's vs AE's and the consensus was they're both great bikes it really comes down to personal preference. Although I'm not apposed to an automatic clutch I decided that since I had a check in hand I would call a couple of Yamaha dealers and make an offer over the phone.

The $11,478 number was the OTD price for the 07AE so that's what I offered for a new 08A to two dealers. When I made the offer both salesmen said they would have to check with their sales manager and would call me back. I didn't expect that they would do it or at least they would counter with a different price. The first dealer called back and accepted my offer. (so did the second about a half hour later)

There are potentially a couple of morals to this story; dealers are willing to negotiate, you have nothing to lose by simply calling them up and asking if they will sell you an in-stock FJR for what you want to pay, and since in this transaction there really wasn't any negotiating I may have actually paid more than I needed too, I have no way of knowing. Although when I asked them to deliver the bike they wouldn't waive the delivery charge and got a bit snotty.

I pretty much did the entire transaction via phone, drove in signed some paperwork gave them a check and they delivered the bike. The finance manager was a bit of a jerk, everyone else at the dealership was great.

Anyway I hope this helps.
