Where's your fuze block?

Thanks for the ideas. I'm leaning toward pillion seat unless I can rig up one of those fancy flip up plates.

So is it better to run a wire bundle up the left hand side of the bike or back along the right side where the battery power will be coming back to the fuze block?

 
I seem to be in good company. Under the seat seems like the driest place to put it. Handy to reach quickly there too in case I have to pull a fuse after dark, oh and easy to get to too.

Uhh? That's two toos, or was that a two a too?

 
Another quick note for the Fuzeblock. I ran marine two wire romex in 10 gauge from the battery along the right side of the engine and on back. Plenty of current capacity and the romex adds extra protection. I like 10 gauge, but here is the rub: 10 gauge is too thick too fit into the connectors on the Fuzeblock and I had to whittle it down a bit on the end to make it fit, 12 gauge would fit better. However, if you should ever want to build a plug in the back for a battery tender and or air pump quick connection - the 10 gauge seems better for that. Pretty sure 12 gauge would work fine, though. The romex is flat which makes it handy to snake along side the engine and on back. I run the leads for the up front accessories down the the left side.

Don't forget a 30A fuse close to the battery.

It's velcro'd in place, easy to pop out if you need to work on it. It leaves enough room for the Autocom, a CyclePump and the tool kit. A pair of wires goes underneath/to the side of the tank to the battery on the right. The switched power comes from the rear light wire connector thing on the left.

I just did this with 10 gauge and they all went in. I did what was suggested and tinned the ends. Of course being male I tried it without doing it and it was all but impossible. Now I was using single strand 10 gauge and it is twisted, is your romex solid or twisted?

I figured if I was running wire, with the reports of grounding/wiring issues that some have experienced, I was going balls out on wire. As you said 12 would probably do but I wanted there to be no doubt. I like it also as it conforms to bends and is nice and rigid so less wire ties needed.

Under the rider's seat. It needs to be in a place that is moisture resistant, but still within easy reach to replace fuses, secure loose wires, etc.

I put my Blue Sea under the rider's seat. I used good quality double sided tape to hold in place as I was nervous about drilling holes to mount it. The expensive CPU right below. No problems in three years

 
I'm at the farkling point in my life where a fuze block has become necessary. I went with the fuzeblocks.com Fz1 model because I like the built-in relay and the flexibility to have both constant and switched power flexibility for future devices in one box. The best slogan ever was just gravy to the purchase: "Our stuff blows". My question is where on the bike (Gen II) is the best location to mount it and what is the best source for the relay feed for that mounting location?

I have:

1) Zumo 660 currently wired directly to the battery (will be switched source after re-wire)

I'm also installing:

2) Coocase topcase with lights and electric lock (constant power with it's own relay to the brake lights)

3) Escort 9500 (want switched power)

Thinking about future

4) volt-meter (likely)

5) tbd farkle

6) tbd farkle

Mine's under the pillion seat, attached via velcro, tapped into blue wire/tailight just like many here have done. Your Escort 9500 can display vehicle voltage, by switching the Pilot Light preference to "Pilot V", it should also give you a warning (audible and visible) for high or low voltage. Would this negate the need for a volt-meter??

Notice I drilled holes for wire ties to support the wiring and hold it in place. The bracket was the best thing I saw to mount to. It really is a slick idea.

I made a very similar bracket to that one out of a piece of lexan and 2 angle brackets from Home Depot. Total cost was under $2. Granted it probably doesn't look as nice, but is just as functional and I don't have a lot of people looking under my seats.

I tried to search and can not find where I bought it. It was from a Forum member though. Also in searching I see many have copied it so there are many ways to do it. All I can say is it was the cleanest way I could see to do it and I like it is vertical and gives you a chance for water run off if it somehow gets wet.

Been struggling to find the perfect place for my Eastern Beaver PC-8 fuse box. I think in the tail under the pillion seat with the Roadrunner bracket would be an easy decision if my wiring harness was long enough. Pinheads placement would work with the length I have. Anyone else have it placed there? Does it require a bit of plastic surgery to make it work? Looks like he did.
