Your all a bunch of wimps, come down to Texas for some summer ridin, yesterday it was 103, today its 93, I wore a lght jacket to work, As Rushes would say "I got a chill"

When the snow level is just above the roads, either in early Spring or late Fall

--Pile on the gear and don't get hot, no traffic (school's in), motorhome's gone, cheap rooms at hotels, lonely bar stools with people waiting to serve you, and not a million bugs to get all over everything! Example: Nevada in April.

For those that are asking what "winter" is, here's an example. And yeah, it really is smart to avoid it on an FJR!

Fall for sure. The KTM 400 EXC-R gets broken out every morning for dirt road exploring rather than just weekend hoolagism, the FJR covering afternoon/evening leaf rides to cider mills near and far. Riding gear transforms into a welcomed necessity from the required portable sauna.

Only downside is fall will become winter virtually overnite with the first heavy snow. The leaf rides become cage rides to the used bookstore and hot cocoa replaces cider and fresh donuts for several months while hibernation sets in.

We had a very hot summer here in NJ. Can't wait for the cooler weather so I can enjoy riding once again.Fall is probably my favorite time of the year to ride. Nice cool days, beautiful colorful sights makes for the perfect riding experience.
If it wasn't for the deer starting to move in all kinds of strange ways,I like early fall. With the cooler temps. my bike seems to run so much better. In fact I think it likes it.

Ok! But you have to come here and ride when it gets down to 20 some thing.

All of them! That's why we deal with sucky traffic and outrageous home prices, for the privilege of living in the perfect climate. Riding to work this morning was just heavenly. I had a mesh jacket and pants on, and there was just enough chill to make the heated grips feel good. Got to work, took the gear off then sat in my office and watched the sun rise. Riding home was toasty, but the freeway was moving fast enough that I got a nice cooling breeze.
