Which year Gen II did transmission change?

I looked at the parts fiche for the transmission on the 2007-2010, and it appears they changes the 3rd pinion from '07-'08, but the 2nd gear and pinion, and 3rd gear, all have replacement part numbers for all years I checked.

I've got the lovely 2nd-gear slip issue, found it last weekend on a trip when having to use 2nd in earnest to pass. Bike only had 18k miles on it when I bought it, 19.5 now.

I've researched a good bit and it appears as long as I don't abuse the bike too much in 2nd, it shouldn't get worse. I just thought that the '08 was supposed to have "improved parts" to prevent this.

According to Igancio's spreadsheet, the transmission changed between 2010 and 2011.

<edit> I mean the CLUTCH changed between 2010 and 2011. Incorrect for me to assume the transmission changed then, too.

Not so, 2008 it changed also.

That's what I surmised from the additional gear replacement part in '07, so apparently not in a way that prevents this issue.

The trans changed in '08 IIRC, but unfortunately there was no design change with the 2nd gear set. The design change was with a couple gears on the input shaft of the trans (adding more dogs & pockets), the layshaft has had the same gears (sans the middle gear difference in Gen 1s) from at least '03 to '12, and I think even up to the '15s.

From past discussion, I kind of got the idea that it would be less likely on an '08 or later, not that it matters now. Probably helps, in fact, because at least I know my issue is the same and not something more sinister.
