I purchased these on Friday, charged them overnight and installed them on Saturday.

The phone portion works fairly well. You can hold a conversation at 55 mph, but any faster and you have to duck your head behind the windscreen to get some quiet time. I have a stock shield so those of you that have upgraded yours may not have this problem. I rode from Vegas to my home today and was disappointed with the music playback volume. You can here it pretty good at low speeds but after that not to good. I basically strained to hear the music all the way back. I am wondering if this is due to my music coming from my phone and not a true MP3 player. For rider to rider or riding around town, I dont think this is a bad buy the money. You can pair your phone, GPS or MP3, and intercom all at the same time. The phone will interupt your music and answer automatically while your riding, or you can set it to manaul. It has two channels of which one can be isolated for rider to rider. When you communicate with the rider it interrupts the GPS, MP3, etc.. After completion it resumes to whatever unit your using, this is the same process for the phone function. I will experiment with the music playback volume and see what I can do to improve it. I saw a post about cutting and splicing in better speakers. If all else fails maybe I will try that.

Better speakers $20-$40 bucks, two sets $198, if it works I think thats still a pretty good deal. It was pretty easy to install and setup. You get two microphones to accomodate fullface or modular helmet installation. The speakers are thin and did not bother my ears. I had them mounted behind the helmet liner, but relocated them to the outerside to see if it would help with the volume playback. I hope it works!

You had the speakers mounted behind the helmet liner? If so, from my experience, it's a wonder they were usable at all. Moving them unobstructed, close to your ears should make a big difference.

Got mine Friday. Got it paired with the GPS, but the phone's BT took a dump a while back. I'll have to wait on that. I had the GPS set at 100% volume, about blew my ears out! Haven't used them on the road yet, but I think they'll work. Have you tried turning up the volume on the phone or MP3?

Right now, I'm using Etymotic ear buds and really like them. Great noise mitigation and very good sound. That post you're referring to replaced the Etymotic buds for the included speakers in the Whistler set. Looked complicated, but I might just do that myself.

I won't ride without earplugs or earbuds any longer. It's simply too loud at speed.

This is the way I'm going. I got fed up on my long ride not being able to hear my passenger/music. I refuse to ride without ear protection not only for preventative medicine but it's just plain tiring and annoying.

I got 2 cheap (1.29$ each) 2.5 to 3.5mm cell phone adapters from Amazon.com. When they arrive I plan to cut off the 2.5 end and splice the 3.5mm female jack to where the speakers used to be, If all goes as planned it leaves me with a headphone jack and a boom mike in my helmet. It's gonna add one additional step getting the helmet on, but the end result should be leaps and bounds better in sound quality and still provide decent hearing protection when I plug in some earbuds like ER6's or Skull Candy TiTANS. The only downside is that a short ride to, say, dinner, requires either earplugs and all that stuff, or no commo on the ride. I suppose if it bacame an issue, I could reinstall the helmet speakers and splice them to a male 3.5mm jack for those times.

I'll report back as soon as the operation is complete.

I mounted the unit with the supplied adhesive bracket. The bracket has two ridges that the unit slides into. It also came with a metal bracket. I assumed this was for clipping it to your jacket or something.

In the post I reported I put them behind the cushion, but; later relocated them to the outerside. If you look at the pic there mounted on the ear portion of the cushion. The comment reguarding low volume was after they were relocated .

I got 2 of these also only issue I see is trying to use the controls with gloves on as they don't stick up a whole lot. I haven't gotten around to hooking up any devices yet. Hoping that the 2820 will work with it and I can put my MP3's on it. Anyone know how this will integrate with BT on the phone?

got mine up and running synced to my blackberry. Still playing with how to hide the wires in my multitec helmet. Overall pretty impressed, though I'm still trying to figure out how to use the buttons on the thing - they are hard to feel through gloves, and I think it's supposed to be able to change tracks on my music player but haven't gotten that to work yet. Phone function works, though I'm told it's hushed and I need to speak a little slower than normal to not have words sound jumbled.

Overall a nice addition especially at that price.

I don't have any problems with the phone, it works great. You can adjust the microphone for sensitivity. It states how to do this in the instructions.

I paired mine up with the ZUMO and play MP3's through it. Works good! Need to get a stereo converter for the ZUMO though! Guess I could load them on the phone. Kinda like not running phone battery down though. Paired the phone through the ZUMO too! So far so good! Haven't got the Intercom completely figured out yet. Working on it!

I got one of my two up and running. I had planned on just pairing it with the zumo 660 and letting my phone talk through the zumo. However, phone connection was very poor using that setup (think radio station that you just can't seem to tune in). However, when I paired the phone directly, it worked fine.

I haven't had much road time yet, but the stereo sounds good in the living room. I'll agree with the complaints about the buttons. The two on the outside of the unit are fine, but you don't use those all that much. The volume control and channel activation (basically two different on buttons) are hard to access with gloves on.

Having a bit of trouble pairing with my Nuvi, and have no sound in the right ear as yet with my Blackberry. As dll said, also can't decide exactly how to run wires through the Multitec. Not all that happy with the foam mic cover being constantly in contact with my cheek or mouth - there's not enough clearance inside the helmet.

Was also hoping to fit the ear pieces into my kid's helmet, but it appears that they're too big.

I haven't had a problem with the buttons. Once you set it up and use it enough, you get a feel for were the buttons are. The volume seems pretty easy to use now. You just have to press firmly and release multiple times to decrease or increase the volume. If you press and hold the button you will actually turn the unit off. It will beep once you have reached the maximum volume. I agree about the clearance issue with the mic. I just push it up and out of the way. So far no problem with callers not hearing me. At present I am using my phones turn by turn navi. My navi does not have blue tooth. Being a FNG I didn't do my homework. Oh well I guess I'll give it to my mom. Next stop the GPS blue tooth isle.

Being a FNG an all maybe I'm missing something or I just don't get it. It seems everyone is worried, that if they use their phone for GPS and music it will drain the battery. I thought every FJR had a power outlet on it, mine does. Also, couldn't you just add a Powerlet to your bike to keep the phone charged. I keep an extra phone battery hooked to the power point while I ride. Just a thought.

I just bought 2 today. I'll see how they work. I just wanted it for the intercom really, but it will be nice for the ZUMO too!

I am confused :blink: It looks like the the kit includes 2 headsets for the price. It does say headsets. (plural) Soooooo why buy 2???
