Who discounts OEM parts?

What bugs me is people that post asking for a simple answer from a simple question and someone always has to say something about the new guy didn't use the search or didn't read the FAQ section of this forum. Answer the question or don't . Also I'm sorry. Please forgive me for trying to keep the newer members from getting there rearend chewed.
It's not at all obvious that is what you're doing. It reads to me like you're simply taking the same "holier than thou" position you assumed wfooshee was and have now given two lectures on it. In point of fact, wfooshee did assist the new member with a detailed explanation and then referenced the FAQ where the simple answer to the main question (and much more) is to be found. You, sir, did no such thing. You simply vented directly about what "bugs" you.

EDIT:

 Apparently I posted too soon and missed your childishness:

My new FJR is missing the lock from the top case. Can anyone recommend a site who discounts OEM parts?
Just use the search button . I'm not going to give you a answer . Damn you was told many times when you signed up here . Loser!
Son, would you please grow up before posting, or at least have a legitimate excuse (like being intoxicated) for your holier than thou posts? BTW, so far as I can tell, the ONLY one suggesting anyone use the search function in this thread is you.

Rule Number 6 applies here.

Excellent catch and rulesmanship, johnny80s! But I would point out that Rule 5 also applies to daddyg's serial posting tantrum. And we all know what that leads to on Friday.
Yes we do.

I'm glad I caught this one. I could really add to the DPF but I'll just help instead... I know that's out of character for me but...

1) The OP got some great info for most of the first page.

2) I hate to say it but Johnny80s is right with Rule #6.

3) Some one fired off their opinion on something that had not happened yet, which really got this DP moving.

4) We have not heard from the OP, is he bummed?

5) Good luck in your search for your lock.

Everyone back to your lives... if'ins yus gots one. ;)

Y'know, someone should start a thread and list all the dealers (including links to their websites) to make the shopping easier.

Maybe, when this is completed (or left to be edited as an ongoing work in progress) the admins could "pin" it....perhaps in the FAQ section.

:dntknw:

And, yes, mis amigos, new members are going to ask the same questions over and over and over. That's just the way it is, so get over it!

Are we there yet?

MM2 - I beleive someone did start a post for all sorts of sites for parts, tires, etc., I can't find it though. I know also keeping the post current could be quite a task.

I'll keep looking for that post.

***EDIT***

Wait a minute....

Our own MM2 has the post!!!! I thought there was another also, but start here. Props to MM2. Parts Websites Clicky

People can name off all their favorite parts places until their blue in the face. But that still doesn't change the fact that Zanotti beats them all.Prove me wrong.
OK...

Well Done Sir!

Everybody give it up for charismaticmegafauna! He accepted my challenge and found a new pars source price leader. I checked several items and sure enough, YSP was cheaper than Zanotti on all counts. I guess Zanotti ain't 'the shizzle' anymore.

Way to go cmmf!

Five years from now, when you've added another 60 months to your time on the forum, pull out your reminder of this moment and tell me if it doesn't bug the shit out of you, too, to have to see the same fucking questions asked day in-day out, month in-month out, of stuff that is already covered in-depth in the "New Members FAQ".

NO - after five years I can definitely say NO, it does not bother me because IT IS NOT THE SAME SOMEONE asking me the question.

Sorry, but +1. :poster_stupid:

It is not a huge imposition to either answer an oft' repeated question or else...

...wait for it:

Don't open the silly topic!! Afterall, one doesn't HAVE to open every topic and read it. Does one?

Repeat topics can be needed for a multitude of reasons, one of which is that the old data is, well... old. So it becomes stale and often no longer accurate. This particular thread is a perfect example. Anyone doing a Google search on cheapest OEM parts would be stuck in an FJRForum do-loop trying to find some guy named Gary in some state named Wyoming.

The other thing to consider when busting on newbs for not performing their due diligence searching is that it is just downright rude as hell.

I know you. And that ain't you. Is it?

I say, lets make this a kinder gentler FJR Forum. :wubsmiley:

Oh sheesh... :finger:

99.999% of the time, I'd agree with ya, Fred, but the OP's question was VERY satisfactorily answered in the 2nd post, when the fecal matter hit the atmospheric dispersal unit just a few replies later, including a personal attack on someone I consider a valuable, contributing member. That just won't do in my book, and the dogpile was deserved.

However, in the sake of Forum Unity and Peace, let's just agree to disagree. Oh yeah, and :finger:

:p

+1 on YSP, they are pretty nice folks to deal with too. However, make sure that your order is sufficiently large/pricey. YSP only ships via courier, so buying little/cheap OEM parts from them even at 25% discount can be more expensive vs. say RonAyers.com

I must agree with Howie on this one. (Okay...don't faint!)

Posts 2-12 gave positive advice and direction. Fecal-on-the-fan began on Post 13.

Most of us who have been around awhile will bother to do the search and give an answer with links and direction on HOW to look for obscure or historic answers.

Yes, there are those members who are quick to "dis" a newbie. Sorry, there are too many personalities here and no means to control offense, hence Guideline #6.

While nobody challenges those who belittle newbies, leading by positive means should (might, could, hopefully will) change the general demeanor of a particular thread. FJRMGM's post makes this point.

Now, can't we all just get along?

My reply above was meant only in a completely generic sense and (definitely) not in regard to the flame thrower daddyg in this thread.

We do have a (somewhat deserved) reputation for jumping on newbs posting NEPRT questions with the SY (Search Yourself!) and RTFR! (Read the Farking Rules!) responses. This guy, OTOH, was just waiting in the wings to whip that reputation out to shake things up, since nobody actually told the OP that.

I don't generally kiss and tell (well, actually, yeah I do!) but I PM'ed the Flamer daddy a couple of days ago, right after he made the post, and told him (tactfully, I think) that he wasn't likely to make a lot of new friends on the forum by calling one of our long time regulars here an ass. He responded that he didn't want to be his friend.

I'm pretty sure he'll get his wish.
