Who is Navigon

My neighbor/friend is searching f/ a GPS unit for her husband (F/ Christmas). She asked me about one of their units. Frankly, I've never heard of them & wouldn't point her to them.

So, I read their "About Navigon" area on their website to find out a little more. They've been in business since 1991. How come I've never heard of them? This says something loud and clear to me.

Still, their units appeared to have some slick functions.

Can anyone provide more info?

I found a fair amount by entering "navigon review" into Google including this or this.

Seems to be an upstart company...not quite ready for prime time. Also, they don't list any specs on their website....can't tell if they're waterproof.....several big negatives IMO.

Thanks Ig, I steered my neighbor away from it. Even knowing that they wouldn't use it for the same reason that I'd use it, there are too many unknowns about it.
