I've been in love with BMW's opposing cylinder boxer engines since I was fifteen, lusting after a brand new R90. But like many things I lusted after at age fifteen, their sex appeal has dimmed in comparison to smarts and dependability.

Like Hud, I was 15 when I saw the R90/6 in a Cycle magazine comparo. And I was determined to buy one. That article opened my eyes to mcy touring.
Yep, I too lusted after the burnt orange R90 "toaster" in mah younger dayz. Finally got a great deal on a R65LS, 'n wuz deeply disappointed in the insanely high maintenance, still have'n to adjust points, (When Japanese bikes had electronic ignitions.) while ride'in a paint shaker,

I see you're lurking over <there> and you are interested in a used (2014) K16? Spot on BTW, older years had some learning curves but BMW has this model finally worked out. My 2014.5 dream machine is pure smoothness and satisfaction in every dept. Absolutely love this bike beyond any words. Good luck in your search.

Yes - lurking for two years. Hope I'm about to land that fish! We'll see. GTL though - she insists! Going to keep the FJR for awhile.
Nice!, and that GTL Exclusive (if this is your fancied model) is the Cadillac of 2up sport touring. I do mostly stag rides and I want the sportier ride so I went with the GT-Sport. Hope to see you out sometime, on either bike!

When I was 15 working a part time job pumping gas, I lusted after my boss's purple and white Bonneville 650. Most beautiful machine I had ever seen.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't mind having one now.

I like old beemers.

I had a '72 R75 many moons ago, and I decided to get another, and restore it.

So, here's the 1973 R75/5.

Now, it the Beemer gods would come out with some old retro version of this then I would buy one tomorrow.

I can explain why BMW riders are "different" with just two letters - KJ.
KJ just do your very best in trying to ignore Billy Fitz, yamafitter has been pissed off ever since the first BMW R75 rolled into Warsaw, Poland! jes' sayin' and nuff said, Jawohl Arnie!

I haven't found anything that handled like my RT. But I haven't ridden a goldwing either. And kaballowe- check out the RnineT. I like my old airhead, but the RnineT is like it's perfect grandson. Service availability nonwithstanding. :)
