The Aerostich custom option is good, but the other good custom option that I really like too is Vanson in Fall River, MA. They will make anything, very carefully, and with exacting precision.

One problem I've found with the "extra room" type pants, is that they can bunch up under you, and can cause circulation issues on long rides. There's nothing like a pair of Vanson or Aerostich pants that really "fit." It makes the whole ride more enjoyable.

Funny thing, I used to have the opposite problem.

I was doing powerlifting when I got my first 'stich. Super snug fit for my thighs, couldn't even wear jeans under them. Eventually my shoulders started bugging so I stopped the heavy stuff, took up running, and now I can even get fleece pants on there! wooohooo!

Now my wife wanted a 'stich ... but she's short and endowed on top and ... ahem .. bottom .. so .. she had the problem getting the zipper to close past her hips. Then the salesperson had the gall to say something like "yeah well they fit most women". She must not be from around here, cuz a Minnesotan would have said something polite to your face, saving the disparaging remarks for when the target isn't around (we call it "Minnesota Nice").

At that point we didn't bother with a 2-peice. Instead she found a much more flattering pair of Fieldsheer pants.

More and more of us are becoming bat fastards. The market is reflecting that. In another 10 years, all the HWP folks are going to be shopping at the specialty stores. They will be the outliers. Heh!

Personally, I wear nothing but these. B)

I found out it was easier for me if I just open my fly & strap on an extra tank bag. It may look funny, but it gives me the room I need................ :yahoo:
Damn. There is a joke here somewhere. Just can't seem to find it...oh wait, it's in the tank bag. :clapping:

It seems that no matter what size you are looking for,, "they" always have the others sizes...

When I was a teen / early 20's ,, 5'10" 120 lbs ,, 28x32 jeans were hard to find...

I've been thru all the sizes 30" ,,, 32's ,, 34's ,,, 36,,,, 38 's ,, 40's ,, now 42's.....

Like I tell my wife ,,, "I'm twice the man you married.."

If you are looking for 36's ,, they have 40's ,, if you are looking for 40's they have 34's....

And since I use to do a lot of neck strength training,,,, try finding something to fit a 19 inch neck

in a pencil neck world....

Or the collar on the riding jacket ,, so high they must be made for a f%^&*& giraffe..

When I go into a store and can only find Medium ,, Small ,, and Extra Small ,,,and shirts with 14 1/2 inch necks..

I Just smile and ask,, Do these come in Adult Sizes.......

Don't get your panties in a bunch because you can't find stuff to fit a tall skinny person ,,, you can't

find stuff to fit a short fat guy either... :dribble:

So, on one end we have the giraffes (tall skinny persons), and on the other end we have hippos (short fat folks).............

Naaaaaaaaaaaa, this is wayyyy too easy! :D

It's the same thing with blue jeans. I went shopping recently for some and almost everything seemed to be sized for emaciated midgets.

If Americans are so obese like the health nazi's keep telling us then why don't the clothing companys know it? :glare:

I'm going to assume that the 'heffer' clothes are at Walmart or some such. There's a lot of folks runnin' around with a size 52 inch waist and a 28 inch inseam.

Is this all somehow related to 'butt crack'?

Any advice on finding gear that fits, other than having your legs shortened?
Option 1: I tend to buy from gear shops that accept returns with no hassle. Motorcycle Superstore is one of these and they get a lot of my business (great gear at great prices, free shipping, no CA sales tax [~10%!!] and a hassle-free return policy...what's not to like). I do the best I can with the size charts to pick the right item/size then order a couple of these items that look like they might work. Then when they arrive, I briefly try them all, keep one and return the rest within a few days. The additional cost to me is the cost of the return shipping, but that's a nit.

Another option is to get over to a mega center if you have one handy. Here in LA, it's Bert's Mega Mall or something similar. They have almost every size in the latest gear and manufacturer in stock and on the rack. you can try them on in the store, but you can't ride with them like you can in option 1.

Works for me.

Cheers,

W2
