I don't think that I've ever even thought about the reflector's that Yamaha put on my bike until I read this thread. Now I will go back to not thinking about them, again.

Smells more like burnt toast than burning wood. When I first got the '06 I thought it was all that new insulation "off gassing". But after 8000 miles I still smell it.

Sooo does that make the D.O.T. required reflector on car and truck gay? If not why not?
Easy answer to an easy question.... it is simply this:

All 4-wheel cages are, by default, pole-smoking, fudge-packing gay.

So, in reality, the cages reflectors should be rainbow colored.

Careful what you wish for....

yeah, yeah, I know...just the reflectors
Hey where did you get the pic of Jeff Gordon's rainbow warrior car? yea.........Jeff's gay too

Gay or not the sombitch flies and you should leave the reflectors alone so it gives your passenger a last chance for hanging on.

Thanks to all of you for pointing out the reflectors. I was happy until I went out and looked at them. In fact I did not even notice them.

Now they stand out like two zits on the unblemished face of a supermodel. **he shakes his head** Anything else you wanna share with me about my PERFECT bike to make more work and cost me more money??

Tell me they are just stick ons someone. And where do I get the stealth reflective tape (I think being seen is indeed important)

The reflectors on the bags are stick-ons. Heat them up with a hair dryer and use a piece of fishing line to separate them from the bags. Be careful not to scratch the paint underneath.

The stealth reflectors are made by a board member. Check the vendor section.

Reflective Tape Thread found with search of Reflective+tape:

The reflectors just screw, bolt on.

Some people remove the tank badges, sidebag reflectors and other advertising for a cleaner look. There are threads, but you're on your own for the search. :)

That would be me. My site is still down, but here are some pictures of the decals:

They are $20 for the bag decals only, then $36 for the set with the topbox.

Both prices include shipping in the US. Paypal at [email protected] (remove the dashes)

Those bag decals are fantastic! But, are they clear..I'm painting my FJR this winter (sadly I dropped it and decided to repaint instead of replacing) and would love to use the decals instead of gay reflectors.

Yes, we did.

Why? Because we wanted to and because we can! (Besides, those "tuning fork" badges on that blue tank looked like headlights. )

They are made from black 3M reflective material and only apply on the non-painted areas of the bags. In the day they blend well with the black of the bag.

Thank you Alex. I will contact you and order a set. I love them and love the idea that you are so BRIGHT at night!

I pulled the reflectors on the front brakes just because I had to the first time I pulled a wheel, and I'll be damned if I'm going to do that every time. Some ****** should have spec'd smaller reflectors so we could get to the caliper bolts w/o dicking with the reflectors.

The ones on the bags just help to protect the bag in a parking lot drop, IMHO. If you pull them after they have been on for a long time, there is sometimes a brown stain underneath from the adhesive. Someone posted that it eventually went away?

The round reflectors under the bags at the tail.........well ****, you'd have to be gay to pull the bags off a FJR and ride around posing as a sport bike! Oh wait, lots of you are flaming gay boys, aren't you? ;)

I did add Alex's outstanding reflective stickers to the bags, plus a strip of reflective trucker's red/white on the back of my fuel cell. I have this aversion to being rear ended.
