I had heard about Why We Ride via a women's rider group that did a group viewing of this film.

It being during the day on a week day, I couldn't go. However, one of the local motorcycle shops had a stack of the DVDs on the counter.

Parts of the film didn't resonate with me as I've never been interested in racing. The film also didn't spend any time on those of us who tour by bike.

Having said that, other parts of the documentary resonated deeply. I found myself instantly connecting to many of the people who were interviewed. I had never met these people before, but I knew them. Or at least I knew the part of their life that makes them passionate. Some of the interviews were a little long-winded, but others just made me want to know more about the person.

The cinematography was well done and well edited. The score was monotonous, largely forgettable, but didn't get in the way of the story.

In all, I found the documentary to be well worth the $25 I spent on it.

So the movie that just came out is available on DVD? I didn't see that coming, but that's good to know. I wonder if Cycle Gear will have it.

I saw it Sunday and really enjoyed it but felt it was guilty of a west coast bias. I thought it was ridiculous to have a section about MotoGP and totally forget to mention 2006 WORLD CHAMPION Nicky Hayden?! Oops. But overall I enjoyed the film and hope they keep making films like this.

We had our local screenings of this movie this past week. We attended the Sunday afternoon showing and agree with most of your assessment. It was well directed, edited, and scored. I believe the background music needed to be forgettable so the focus would be on the people with whom most of us child identify, at least partly. I felt there was a good cross-section of the motorcycling community represented. And, some of the individuals interviewed pulled at your heart-strings.
