Frequenting more fast food joints than I should I'm often amazed by the wide variety of ice shapes spit out from their ice machines.

Two McDonalds in the same city can have totally different ice bits.

One might think there is an optimal size and shape of ice bit which offers minimal cost per drink.

The choice of ice machine must not be an important cost consideration for these operations.

My treeing walker coonhound dawg likes ice...

and here's Walker (in front - couch potato is Jenni Lynn):

Crushed is far better, IMO. I like the crunching of ice infused with the faint flavor of your favorite n/a beverage. Good times.

Crushed ice makes a colder drink, but melts faster and waters the drink down more. Also takes up more of the volume so there's less drink in the first place. I prefer the thin square pieces about an inch or 3/4 inch across.

And Mike, that picture looks like you walked in on the dogs. Maybe you oughta knock first?

Kinky dogs doin' it people style!!!!
