So the wife talked me into going down to BMW yesterday to test ride a new F700GS. What an expensive mistake that was

The dealer made us an offer we couldnt refuse. I was pushing for her to get an FZ1 but we ended up with the BMW that has ABS, Heated Grips, Centerstand and sadle bag mounts. They threw in the top box for free. The final OTD price was actually alot closer to the FZ1 than i had thought it would be. That saying happy wife Happy life better be true.

The new steed:

At least the dealer was cool and let me take a spin on a few of their Demo bikes. My favorite was the k1600GT, that thing is so nice and so expensive.

I also rode the new F800GT. A cool bike but no where near as nice as the FJR. I was able to get out of there still liking my FJR. If I was going to upgrade it would have to be another FJR.

Very nice!!! She looks awesome on it too :)

Yes, the K1600 is top dog and the price reflects this also. Glad your part of the Bring More Wallet Club, the more we have... well, the more we have ;)

Other than the K1600 and the 1300S (sport bike) for us dudes, the 1000 seems to fit the "more aggressive" dudette's nicely...

I think your wifey made the right decision however, especially considering this one is much more denali's.

A good choice, it appears to fit her well.

My buddy has one and loves it, but he's a 'short ***' and had to have it lowered.

That F800GT looks nice, I'll have to read up on it.

Thanks.

Well done. Too many husbands seem to think they should choose their wife's bike. My wife doesn't ride anymore, but when she did she didn't choose my bikes, and I didn't choose hers. I would offer advice and try to keep her from making expensive mistakes, but the final decision was hers.

Funny, but after typing that I remembered that I came home from a week-long trip one time, and she had a new one sitting in the garage. Maybe she didn't even need my advice. ;)

Funny you say that because I did choose her last two rides. This time I figured I would let her choose what she wanted. The must have for her is the low seat height and being able to have some sort of luggage. The biggie for me was ABS. We went back and forth between the FZ1, Tiger 800, and the BMW and did consider waiting for the FZ9.

The FZ1 is nice but is within a few hundred dollars of the BMW OTD and doesn’t have ABS. The FZ9 is not available yet and the tiger seems to have alot of issues reported on the forums I researched.

Glad we went with the BMW it is a really nice bike. I already ordered SW Motech crash bars and a bash plate last night. Let the farkling begin.

She was a little sad last night watching me clean up her Ninja 650R so I can sell it. That was her first real street bike and she doesn’t want to see it go. My garage is getting way to full and it needs to go.
