Cool story, Don. I like the way it endshttps://www.ianchadwick.com/motorcycles/enfield/ Hot Canadian ladies actually has a motorcycle connection to Papa Chuy.
Prior to joining the US Army in 1968 I was a big fan of flat track motorcycle racing in Southern California. The two fastest riders in the sport were Elliot Shulz and Stuart Lachmann of Royal Enfield of Los Angeles; riding the famous Interceptor 700, the same Royal Enfield that our FJRay owned. After basic and advanced training at Fort Ord I was stationed at Presidio of San Francisco with Stu Lachmann. He and I became buddies, I was riding my Norton Atlas 750 and he had an Interceptor.
Prior to going into The Big Green Machine Stuart rode his street bike Interceptor up to British Columbia for three weeks.
Stu was a good looking guy with long hair in those days and very popular with the ladies. Stu enjoyed hot Canadian ladies in BC so much he almost went AWOL rather than leave behind his CA gals. But off he went to Fort Ord, California; on time.
Whenever Lachmann would reminisce about his 3 weeks of dancing, romancing and partying with BC girls he'd get this wistful faraway look in his eyes, like he was dreaming. He always said Canadian ladies would turn you every which way but loose!
You don't have a sibling - say around 5 years younger - do you Barb? Hell that would make you and PapaChuy almost "related"!
