just installed the pegs look like there will be a problem removeing the oil filter . can someone with the pegs advise me ... thanks mike

Mike, I just changed my oil filter around my WB pegs yesterday. I even used a MONKEY WRENCH and was able to get on it. Just enough to start it. Then I removed and reinstalled by hand. You should be ok.

Did you get the chrome pegs or rubber from somewhere else?

my legs are hitting the plastic. will nee to extend the pegs out 3/4 of a inch on each side.
Zorkler, had the same problem last year. Get to a good hardware store with your foot peg in hand. find a 1" longer bolt to fit, and find a 1" spacer. This and a couple lock washers and you're all set. I used stainless steel spacers, scrap 1/2" 316L tubing from work.

Here's a pic (pardon the dirt, haven't cleaned up from weekend yet).

Be careful about extending your pegs too far. I have the same brackets and pegs as Vstar2FJR and the ends of my pegs are scraped up pretty good from contact with the pavement. I leave them loose enough to easily pivot back and out of the way. If your extension gets too long you're in for some hard contact with the rigid portion. You'll have to figure out how much is too much.

I have no trouble changing the oil filter. A small strap wrench slips right in there.

I installed Old Wild Bill's hiway pegs a couple weeks ago. Look great, go on easily without modifications to the bike, and work great. I'm exactly six feet tall and don't have any problem keeping my feet on the pegs. My knees press against the plastic but that doesn't bother me or interfere with riding or handling. The oil filter will come off and install without removing the hiway pegs. I'd be VERY leery about extending the pegs much farther out. In addition to the very real risk of scrapping them on the pavements in hard turns, I'd be concerned about the additional leverage being created either bending the mounting plate or possibly damaging the engine side covers the plate mounts to.

I used a 1.5" extended peg mount from a local HD dealer's rack for Sportster items to mount my highway pegs on Wild Bill's mounts.

The pegs will just fold up a bit if you tag them during a good lean. Assuming your feet are not on them at the time. I've put minor marks on both highway pegs from this due to leaving them down while having fun in the twisties. Not a big deal.

FYI:

When I decided to teach my FJR gymnastics near the summit of Sonora Pass, this is what the right side mount looked like after the tumbling:

Mount and bolts are bent. Mount is touching coolant hose coming from water pump, but not pinching it. Though a bit of moisture along the cover seam, no oil leaks.

Left mount was unscathed.
