I have been reading all the topics I can find on reducing wind noise. Figuring that earplugs are the cheapest solution, I have tried several types of the compression foam earplugs with limited success. Found these in a search and ordered a pair. They are a compound made with beeswax, cotton and lanolin and you knead them a few minutes to soften them and push them in your ear. I used them today and did about 30 miles on the interstate, they worked much better than the foam. Still get noise but it is bearable. A shield is in the future but these will work for now.

I just got a pair of custom made ear buds from Ear Inc. I'm happy with the sound and the noise reduction. I got the cheaper model at $240. Next time I'll spend the extra money to get the pair with better sound. I had been the E6i from Etyomic. They sounded good but not that much noise reductoin.

I use Shure e2c in-ear headphones with the large-size flex sleeves, and find they do a really good job on noise reduction, even when they're not plugged into an audio source. Not quite as good as quality foam ear plugs, but pretty close.

And, when I turn on the XM, the sound quality is also really good. The cords route over the back of your ear and then down, which keeps them in place even if I accidentally pull on the cord.

I also used those blue wax plugs for a long time and liked them. I finally bought a pair of custom molded plugs at the Laguna Seca races and have worn them ever since. I turn my helmet speakers way up and can hear my music through them.
