Not sure how to correct the problem I have on the home pc. The screen goes up and down. I ran a scan and nothing came up. I also found on google in a forum that if the speaker are too close to the moniter can cause this issue due to magnetic field or something. But to no avail can I correct this. Sometimes is will stay stationary for a few moments but can't hardly type in this post as it is moving so much. HELP......!! PM. <><

Yep. First test is to try another monitor or try your monitor on another PC.

Another thing you might want to check are other peripherals. Mice can (rarely) cause problems especially if they're USB (Winderz does wonky things with USB).

Yeah, sounds like good ol' vertical hold problem to me, IMHO of course. What kinda oil you using in that monitor, anyways?

A monitor I had 7 years ago had an adjustment knob for this. If yours is an older model, it may have an adjustment.

[wild guessing]

Swapping the monitor (and cable) is the fastest way to determine if the problem is the monitor/cable or the video card. Is the screen bouncing the only symptom? Did it suddenly start or has it been gradually working up to this condition?

Most current monitors have a degauss button that you can press or a menu item to click to demagnetize the monitor. Degaussing looks harsh but is harmless and can be repeated if it looks like it is helping. Confirm the monitor cable isn't severely bent and that it is properly screwed in.

If it looks like the problem may be the video card, re-seat the card and clean out all the dust bunnies. Video card performance can be hampered if dust prevents the card from being properly cooled.

[/wild guessing]

Not such a wild guess IonB.

My youngest son had the same problem last month - comp was 4 years old. Dust and fluff had caused his video card to overheat and it took a dump. Replacing the card did the trick.

OTOH -- my screen was flicking occasionally -- turned out to be a dying battery in the remote mouse !!

Well I figured out this problem on my own.......problem.....defective mouse! Not monitors, cables of weight of oil.

And Odot, go eat your own ****. I like Foster Farms ripe and plump hens....fried thank you.

So if anyone runs into this issue remember to check or swap out the mouse first. Remember to always check the simple things first when broke down.

Now if I can only get the darn "Skin Settings" to work on the posts setup I'll be back on track. Won't change when I put it on the default that I normally use. It's stuck on the other setting and I didn't change it over. It happened when the mouse took a crap......it's always something....PM. <>< :dntknw: Thanks for all the help though...... ;)

Amended: If one is unable to change the "Skin" settings, ie how the posts are arranged, pull up a post and on the right side is an "Options" button. If you want all the posts to be fully arrayed, make sure the "Standard" selection is made and not the "Switch to outline". I found the answer to this second issue here: Board operation and software

I snuck in with a correct diagnosis :yahoo: amazing !Now -- if I could do the same with FJR probs
Close Rog, but no remote mouse here. Just a well used and wore out mouse and no batteries used. I searched on line and here as well and no one had the same exact answer but you were very close. It was really freakin me out though. I couldn't hardly post what with the screen jumping up and down. :hyper:

I had done a complete re-install on my system not too long ago because of an infection and I thought oh Lordy here we go again. Some online computer trouble-shooter sites had suggested that a bug was the culpret as well as keeping the speakers too close to the monitor but to no avail. It's great to be back to a calm system. Thanks all for the replies and suggestions!! And I hear you Rog on the ability to do the same on our FJR's...... :dribble: PM. <><
