Windshield and seat for taller larger rider on an 06?

Well I took delivery of my 06 last Tuesday and promptly left for a business trip hours later so I have had about 60 miles on her so far. I love the bike but I have determined that there are some changes to be made for me to be comfortable. I am 6'5" and 275lbs and I am looking to change the windshield to a taller and wider on and wanted input from those who are about the same size and have found what works.

The stock seat, as others have mentioned , is made for the flat assed people of the world and will have to go. I know there are various companies that make them but I am specifically looking for someone of my size that has found what works for them.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions that you can offer. Again, I know that there are various threads about seats and winshields but I am looking for personal experience from people my size.

I'm 6' and 280lbs.

Two years of the stock ST1100 seat are still painful memories. Only eased by 4 years and 20K miles of good memories.

Hey 6'5, I'm 6'4 and put the Cee Baily +4+2w/flip on my 05.

It was a hugh improvement. The stock shield put the wind right in my chest and face.

With the stock shield in the up position, it created too much back pressure and still put the wind in my face.

You deffinitly want to get one of these.

Being of similar size, I suggest the stock grips will be too skinny as well, it won't take long for numbness and fatigue to set in with the stock grips.

Get a set of Grip Puppies, they will slide right over your stock grips and it will fit your larger hand much better.

I am still running my stock seat after 14,000, so I am not prepared to offer any advice on the seat choice.

I guarantee the Cee Baily and the Grip Puppies will be the best Farkles for your buck.

I believe that both windshields and seats will require a redesign for the '06 models, but once they do I'll be in the market for a new windshield myself. When I was riding mine home a couple weeks ago I was still getting pretty good wind noise and buffeting with the windshield all the way up. Last night, for grins, I ducked down a bit and found that a "cone of (near) silence" does exist, just 4 inches lower than I need it to. The difference is dramatic.

I'm 5' 12" so I'm sure that your 5' 17" body is hanging way up in the jet stream as well.

My seat doesn't bother me up to about 2 hours of riding, at which point I start thinking that something a bit more roundy would be nice.

I have 1400 miles on my 6 and the windshield is beating me up! I am with you on a new shield. Mark at CaslSci was working on his second prototype as of yesterday and National Cycle said their V Stream windshield will be available for 06 at the end of June.

I have an email into Cee Bailey to see about availability for 06. Thanks. Thanks to others that have chimed in. Now I just need to decide which seat. Anyone riding a Sargent that they like who is sporting a large frame?

The Grip Puppies really do the job. And a +1 for a taller windshield.

And give the 2006 seat a chance. Mine is breaking in nicely to fit my bottom after only 988 miles.

Well considering there is no alternative to the stock seat yet, I'll see how it goes :dribble: After reading about the various windshields that are becoming available I think I will wait and see what the Guinea pigs...I mean first lucky and proud owners think of the different shields
