My 2013 FJR sat another six month in the carport while I wintered in California. After arriving back in Salem I was unable tp ride it for lack of a helmet. So I ordered a new Shoei Neotec helmet. It arrived yesterday and I decided to take the bike and helmet for a spin.
After riding my Wee Strom all winter the FJR felt it was turbine powered. Really missed her.

Anyway I was riding Hwy 22 towards Stayton about 65 mph and noticed wind noise in the helmet, but if I lowered my head a small amount It went away. I decided to raise the shield a little until the noise went away. Nothing happened, the shield would not go up or down.

Okay, I don't think the problem is a fuse, because there are other functions associated with that fuse. Maybe it is corrosion in the switch. Any ideas would really be appreciated before I take it to the dealer and no I did not buy the extended warranty. Never used it with my 07.

You might want to try squirting some contact cleaner into the switch, and rocking it a few times.

Failing that it's out with the multimeter and begin tracing the circuit to find the fault.

Thanks twigg. I will give that a try and If I get too discouraged take it to the dealer.

Does the switch change other display functions (which screen is displayed, heated grip setting)? If so, it can't be the switch.

Is the mechanism jammed? The easy way to test for this is with a voltmeter on the battery, the voltage will drop while it's trying to move.

Other than that, it's a matter of tracing the wiring. This won't be easy.

Thanks, looks like another sleepless night. The switch I am referring to is the up and down switch for the windshield.

Did you have the correct display showing? Can you toggle through all the other displays???
I haven't but will check. I didn't know the windshield was in a display.
The menu switch toggles round which option is shown in the display, one of which shows the windscreen. In that one, the rocker switch should move the screen up and down. If the display doesn't show the screen, that rocker will do some other function shown by the screen.

So, are you trying the screen movement with the correct menu displayed?

I wish to apologize to Twigg, Just and Mcatrophy for wasting your time with a stupid post. I haven't ridden the 2013 for over 6 months and I guess my old brain was still ridding my 07. I never changed any screens on my ride yesterday and had forgotten that the windshield is dependent on the screen function screen. I have never been the brightest bulb in the room but maybe the fact that I turn 74 in July is the problem. Being old and stupid is not fun.

The windshield now goes up and down.

Whew! Quick, easy and cost no $$$, sounds like a big win to me. The Forum once again provides good help, and in this case no sheep, matinees or armadillos were harmed in the process

FWIW, my experienced and quite intelligent electronic technicians are capable of forgetting to plug in a chassis and also capable of forgetting to turn the power switch ON. Relax about not switching the screens

Withdrawal from riding can do that. Try to avoid this in the future ;) .

Just wait until some of the stranger forumites have had time to read this and assimilate its meaning.

You posh people and your fancy rides .... Buy a Gen 1 and you wouldn't even have to consider that complicated stuff :)

Don't feel bad Jer. It's not like the bike wouldn't start and you asked for help on the forum, only to discover the kill switch was on...not that this happened to me...(I figured it out right BEFORE I posted it to this forum!).

The kill switch thing is basically what I did. Couple of clicks of a button would have solved my problem.
