Odd that a new bike is doing this. Might be bad dealer prep on assy by not lubing guides. My '08 developed this problem after about a year. I bought some silicone lubricant and sprayed down the guides. Smooth as glass now.
My experience as well on my 08. I would not accept it on a brand new bike.

Yeah, and to be honest I can't recall how long this has been going on - I bought the bike new 18 months ago and it has 9K miles on it now - It's been going on for some time, though. The bike is coming due for a tire change and when I bring it in I will probably instruct the dealer based on some of the experiences shared here.

Very common issue is the windshield rubber (its actually a soft flexible PVC plastic) detaching from the nose fairing. Mine did earlier this year. I removed the nosecone, cleaned everything up and reinstalled the "rubber" using 3M two-sided trim tape. So far, so good. Still have a bit of shudder but its just the "arms" rubbing on the gasket material. A bit of silicone (i.e. dielectric grease) should help to quiet it if the gasket material isn't detached. Gave me a chance to clean and lube the windshield mechanism while I was in there.

So - closure here - I tried the silcon lube in the slides approach last weekend (after an unnecessary attempt to disassemble the cowling - could have used another post in this forum I found from a couple of years ago). Seems to work pretty well in smoothing out the action, so far. Just in time for a trip to the Red Bull Moto GP in Indy the weekend after next. Life is good.
