I have only found a few using Google and the closest 3 are in Alabama about 3hr to the closest one.

Try the forum I mentioned above and you will find plenty of people in your area to learn from. You won't be able to see the introduction section until you sign on for the first time. Someone from MI just joined and a couple people already introduced themselves from your area. Like Fred stated though you only need to by the liquid yeast locally because of the temperature variation it may experience this time of year. I've seen some good pricing on a few thing at Midwest supply.

Ha!! Mini kegs. What a ruse.

Yeah, I got stung by that same wasp way back when. The 5 liter kegs sound like a perfect thing for the home brewer. No need to keg an entire batch, but you still get to have some draft beer. The only problem is that plastic equipment they sell is garbage. It just doesn't work as well as advertised. I have 4-5 mini kegs and two semi complete tapper systems in the FFBB with 10 years of dust on them, because they are useless and I can't find anyone to take them off my hands.

If you want to keg, get the corny kegs (pepsi pin-lock Cornelius type kegs) and you will be a happy draft beer drinker. You'll need to lay out about $100 up front in gear, but then it's smooth sailing from there.

Holy crap it's carbonated!

Smell is good but as far as flavor, not too much at this point. It's on the sweet side of things with a slightly bitter after taste with a flavor I can't quite put my finger on... almost spicy.

I was hoping for a more full flavor I guess. The instructions say the flavor improves and is best at 3 months though so I'm not dumping it yet...

Nice job! :clapping:

Yea the waiting is the part that is killing me. Looks good so now just forget about it for a while if that's possible. It wouldn't hurt i guess to try one in 3 weeks just to see it's changing.

my last was a nut brown ale that came out awesome. Have to make some more of that. I have a couple of recipes ready. A white wheat that I might tweak a bit and a pale ale. Now that I have the NAFO refunds done......

My first ever batch was wicked good burp beer!

The best home brew I've had so far was a friend's Espresso Stout. Yea, it was every bit as good as it sounds.

Coffee is a great addition to a lot of beers. It's amazing how little you need to give a marked flavor element, and it goes really well with the default beer flavors of malt and hops.

Yesterday I knocked out a repeat batch of my "Peter" Porter. It was so good the first time we made it that we sucked it down way too quickly. Easy to do when you have it on draft. It was especially good with 1/2 an oz of bourbon added. It tastes very similar to the Whiskey Porter that they make and serve at Browns' Brewery in Troy, NY. Worth a stop, BTW, if you happen to be in the neighborhood.

Next week the boy comes home again, we'll be making an Oatmeal Stout.
