There's also a laser treatment that seems to work very well.. a couple of my frined have used it, they have stopped smoking...

The hardest thing is that since they are so used to putting something in the mouth, they ar now eatiing more...

without realizing it...

Good luck,

mary

But seriously, thank you everyone. It's gonna 48hrs at midnite 2nite. So far, so good. I work tomorrow so I'll really be pushed to break. But no way, it's only been 48 hrs but that's the worst time to start over. I'm a non-smoker for good, I actually use less effort when I breathe after running up and down the stairs w/ the dogs chasing me(playtime). I don't remember that happening since I moved here! :yahoo:

My sister is a doctor and did related research for ten years. I too, like many others was told to stop smoking, that was 30 years ago. I talked to my sis and she told me that nicotine had such incredible addictive properties that when they took nicotine laced corn meal away from rats they turned on each other even though there was plenty of regular corn meal. Amazing!

I had a friend at the office who gave me a picture of a lung that had been removed from a lung cancer victim and he put it up on the inside of my office door. I stopped in November of 1976 and it took about 3 years before the cravings really went away and about 5 years before I stopped even thinking about it.

Things I did that helped:

1. Watched what I ate and tried to stay away from sugar and gaining 100 pounds.

2. Got a bicycle and kept it near the front door and everytime I wanted a cigarette I would go for a ride. Also joined a bicycle club.

3. Talked to other people who had stopped and got positive re-inforcement.

4. Spent time taking walks and giving the lungs a workout to remind myself of how the smokes hurt them.

Good luck. You can do it if a weak-willed ******* like me can. Now if I could find that picture of the lung.
