Times have changed and now we have a whole bunch of people that want to tell others how to live. Again, mind your own business and let others live free.
... This should be up to me and not some tool that want to tell me that the activity I choose to engage in is unsafe in their opinion. Go to another country and see how others live, say in Asia. No one wears gear and people don't tell on others for just trying to live and be happy. What a concept. Kind of reminds me of the US prior to the 80's.
Couldn't agree with you more Happy Rider. Nice post.

It is this very thinking that is driving the government in California to such stupid heights as to think about requiring smog check for motorcycles!

It is NONE of your business.

We do NOT have a government of the insurance company, by the insurance company and for the insurance company.

It is of the PEOPLE, by the people and FOR the people.

The government has the responsibility to protect our freedoms and keep silly restrictive laws to a minimum. We owe it to our fellow citizens to allow them to exercise their freedoms as much as is possible. Weather that is by riding without proper gear, smoke cigarettes inside, drive crappy polluting cars or, now, ride a motorcycle with after market pipes.

You see, the more citizens who sell out their neighbors freedoms the more hungry the government will become to take some freedom YOU don't want to.

give up.

It is no wonder that our freedoms are dying so fast.

Hey W C , you hate dogs too? You can't be all bad! However, surely the guy made a very bad decision letting the girl ride in such unsafe apparel, but repeated blows to his nether regions? All this without a trial? Mob rule? The girl probably pestered the guy to take her for a little ride. He was most likely extra careful. There could have been extenuating circumstances you might not have been aware of. Judge not, lest you... You're not a politician from San Fransisco are ya? I hear they are trying to ban Big Mac's.

This thread does make me wonder just how many MC riders would wear a helmet if the law did not require it.I live near the border of NC (that has a helmet law) and SC (that does not), I would say the majority of the SC

riders do not wear a helmet while riding in SC. No data just my observation from riding more miles in SC than NC.

I started riding before the law said I must wear a helmet. But surprise I almost always have.

I started driving before seat belts were required. But have almost always worn them.

I rode bicycles before helmets were required by law ( thank God ) still think bicyclist

look goofy in those helmets and the skin tight short. Not sure what is safe about riding

a bike on a busy rural road with 10 cars stacked up waiting to pass you when the road gets

just a little wider. Enough about that one I could go on and on.

How bout the lessons we teach our kids. Look Daddy wears ATGATT and later that evening

parks his Escalade in the fire lane in front of the Super market, **** the rest of you folks I'm only

going to be here a minute.

It's all about choices ... or so I'd like to think. If we had laws to protect us from all our poor

choices would luck become obsolete? More likely as someone else said the gene pool would

really get dumbed down.
Gunny. Never ridden a motorcycle more than about 50 yards without a helmet. But I don't care if others do it. Adults anyway. Kids need help with decisions like that and parents should err on the side of safety when it comes to their kids. Not make them live in a bubble. My son rides with me, shoots with me, etc. But it is always done in the safest manner possible.

Preach it brother. :clapping:

I had to do a triple take. Not only was it a piddly ski helmet, she wasn't even wearing it properly. The front half of her head was completely unprotected (helmet was too far back on her head).
I wanted to pull the adult rider (presumably her father) aside and kick him in the junk. repeatedly.

I hate kids, I really do...but it's inexcusable to put them in that kind of danger.
Best part of this post! :p :p :p

Sorry, but he said he hates kids, so what does he love, kids, so that they are protected and safe. Something does not match. President Obama says he hates kids and therefore he wants to introduce a new law that requires they do not ride on a motorcycle until the age of xx because he hates kids. Funny something seems wrong.

Yes, I do hate kids, and as I mentioned to you in Private Messages, that doesn't mean I want to see a child get hurt or killed due to a negligent father. You completely lost me on the Obama thing, I never mentioned any government or politics in my original posting...mostly because it never leads to good things, but also because politics discussion is not allowed on these forums.

You seem to be hung up on the definition of "hate." The New Oxford American Dictionary defines it as:

hate |hāt|verb [ trans. ]

feel intense or passionate dislike for (someone) : the boys hate each other | he was particularly hated by the extreme right.

• have a strong aversion to (something) : he hates flying | [with infinitive ] I'd hate to live there.

• [with infinitive ] used politely to express one's regret or embarrassment at doing something : I hate to bother you.
In this case I have a strong aversion to, and an intense dislike for kids. Therefore, I hate kids.
