Had an AWESOME day at Mike and Laura's! Headed home with the rain on my tail. Great to see old friends and meet new ones. RayZerman Ray, you are a freak of nature in the most amazing way. I always learn soooo much from you every time we have these events, even if I'm just standing and pointing with a beverage in my hand. Mike and Laura, you are incredible hosts! Thank you so much for feeding us and putting up with our bad comedy! Full House John, thanks for bringing the pulled pork - it was VERY tasty! Wishing everyone safe travels, whether it be tonight or Sunday. See you all at CFR!
+1, well except for the part of the rain chasing me, it caught me. Not sure how KJ fared but he had a 20 minute head start on me.

Big thanks to all the guys I met, great day to ride and take in some tech knowledge. Thank you Mike and Laura for graciously hosting yesterday, and thanks to Tim for the introductions. Last but not least, thank you Ray who worked non stop to assist all who showed up. I'm inspired by your wealth of knowledge. Looking forward to spending more time with many of you again next weekend.

Thank you all. It was great to put wee faces to your names! The hosts... I echo every work that has been said. Hope to see you all soon. Next time I'll stay much longer, now that I know where to go. Getting to the hotel was easies than I thought! My sag is bang on! Those bumps are now gone! Cheers mates!

What a pleasure it was to be at the Tech Day yesterday. We have met a lot of good motorcycle people on our trip from Colorado, but in 2,000 miles of riding, we didn't see another FJR. Being around this group and putting some faces to the names on the forum was the best. Thank you Mike, Laura, Ray and all of the rest for making me feel welcome. I wish all of you could make it to NAFO. We'll see guys, hopefully on the road sometime.

Bobco it was a pleasure have a safe trip back home and I hope to see you down the road sometime.

Another one in the books, and it was great to have new faces as well as familiar ones. BobCo gets the longest distance prize and yes, will get down his way one day. Since we weren't overwhelmed too much with work we had a lot of information sharing, along with all the other stories we tell. Looked to me like everybody had a great time, especially with Chef Laura's fares. Thanks to Mike and Laura for putting up with us.

I'm in Niagara Falls waiting for a store to open and I'll be on my way shortly...... hey, Mike, where's my Nexus card?

Took the long way home, but I made it. Rained most of the way, but not enough for me to interrupt my riding enjoyment to put on the rain gear.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Mike and Laura, you're wonderful people. Ray, you're a damn machine. It was great to meet new folks, and see the "old" folks again. The Northeast is full of great people who happen to ride FJRs.

My only request is that Mike sets the date for next year soon, so that BobCo can start making arrangements to come back next year. It was pretty awesome of you BobCo, to ride all the way from Colorado just for Mike and Laura's Tech Day.

Apparently word has traveled as to what a great time we have.

Some of you expressed an interest in getting replacement Tail/Brake lights like mine. I am sending an inquiry to the the guy I purchased them from for price & availability. I am also going to inquire about rear LED signal bulb replacements for the gen 3 that already have LED fronts. If you are interested in these let me know with a PM & i'll see if I can get a group buy or discounted rate for them.

Back home safe, damp around the edges though. Started raining 25 miles from Eden, rained to within 12 miles of home. Great experience meeting new friends, learning more about a great motorcycle( thanks so much Ray) and seeing new roads.

Mike and Laura, you are the greatest!!

John

John, sorry you got wet, but glad you got home safe! And thanks again for the cookies and pulled pork!! I admit, I snarfed a few of those cookies after everyone left, even after Laura's breakfast casserole!

Laura and I had a great time, and we appreciate all who attended and shared stories, lies, and anything else. Ray, as always, just kept right on working throughout the entire day with not even a break to sample Laura's chicken wing dip. Sorry buddy! We'll definitely do it again next year, and we'll try to coax Bob back from Colorado. Of course, if Ray can't enter the country legally, we may have to tunnel him under the border. He can't seem to keep tabs on that Nexus card of his.

I took some pix and will try to get them posted up here later today. Nothing incriminating or disgusting, I assure you. Just one or two folks working and the rest of us standing/sitting around doing nothing. Kinda had that 'government job' sorta vibe (with apologies to anyone who really does work a government job!!!).

Mike & Laura

Smooth ride home, pulled in to my driveway about noon. It rained a good portion of the time but nothing bad at all, roads were barely wet. Fredrick says he wants to go again next year.

Mike and Laura, Thank You!! Your hospitality is off the charts!! It was great seeing friends again and meeting new ones. I look forward to see all of you again!!

Ray, Thank You!! Your willingness to give your time to work on bikes, teach and turn wrenches for us is second to none!! I knew I didn't know much about my bike other that turning the key and riding. You opened my eyes to how easy this bike is to work on. Watching, mostly, the clutch and brake bleed process, which I have never done before on anything, I think I can do it myself the next time it needs to be done. The adjustments made to the forks, WOW!! I didn't realize how much the front dove up and down while accelerating and slowing down, it was like the other bikes I had ridden over the years so I thought it was normal. I noticed the difference leaving this morning at the first stop sign at the end of the street, huge difference!! The ride is sooooo much better!! I’ve never had the chance to work with and talk to someone with your FJR knowledge, I learned a lot from you. I arrived knowing only how to change the oil and fluid in the rear end and left knowing how to do the clutch & brake bleed, adjust the dampening and preload on the forks and how to check the throttle bodies and to that Thank You!! Lastly, I’ve said several times the brakes just don’t feel the same as they did when it was new. Well, guess what,…….they feel like new again.

To all you clowns out there, change your brake and clutch fluid regularly.

Always a great weekend hanging with all of you!! I'll work on trying to do an RTE some time in July so keep an eye out for that.

Hope to see all of you at NERDs.

OK, so as promised, just a few photos of the festivities.

Ray arrived Friday afternoon after making TWO trips to the border crossing. We set up his shop and got down to a valve clearance check on my bike. I had it stripped down and the coolant drained before he arrived.

Turns out all was well within spec after 34,000-plus miles.

We removed the PAIR system and fabricated some custom plugs, using some of Ray's "Axle Extraction Tool" (1/2" wooden dowel) and bits of the PAIR tubing. It's not WynnPro-beautiful, but it works!

Saturday, attendees started arriving by around 9am. John/Fullhouse (in garage) pulled in bearing gifts of pulled pork and chocolate chip cookies, followed shortly therafter by LittleJon (L) and BobCo ®. Jon was the closest, coming from just up north here in WNY and Bob was the farthest, coming all the way from Colorado, via Jamestown, NY. He and his wife are on a moto-trip to visit family here and elsewhere, and he figured he'd check out some of the wierdos forum members in person and change his oil at the same time. Ray played the role of Walmart Greeter ©.

Eventually, the parking lot filled up with FJRs...

John started work on his forks.

This is what most of us did the rest of the day. Here we have, left to right, Fred (Dean's son), Jon, Dean/DeanG and Mike/Wineguy. It's really a show of support for those doing the work...really...it is...

Bob is wrapping up his oil change while John and Ray get his forks back together. No spare parts leftover either!

Luis brought his '01 FJR (he's the original owner, purchased it in Ireland) and Ray helped him take sag measurements and make some suspension adjustments.

Once again, we showed our respect for KJ and his BMW by extending special parking privileges. This has become an annual rite.

There was lots of knowledge transferred, some of which might even take root (depends on how late in the day that knowledge was transferred) and of course Laura provided good food lest we go hungry. She used John's pulled pork and made a tasty lunch. Ray worked so hard he never even got to try her chicken wing dip. Trust me Ray, you would have liked it. I ate your share for you. You're welcome.

Ray was still at it after dinner, doing a brake bleed on Tim/Madmudder's bike.

No campfire due to threatening rain, and a few who had intended to stay Saturday night decided to try to beat the rain and headed home instead. Jon was manly and slept in his tent in the back yard, even through the rainy night. Sunday morning, after breakfast and some good coffee, the rest of the group said their goodbyes and headed home, again trying to outrun the rain. Most were at least partially successful, with the exception of John, who had to ride directly south into its path. Sorry John!!

Thank you to Ray, as usual, and to everyone who came and had fun. We love hosting this and plan on doing it again next year. Now it's on to CFR. The only other definite event we have planned is EOM, but we may think about NERDS in August. Of course, we're also hoping to get a few long weekends in before then.

It's difficult explaining this event to people.

"So, you just go to some guy's house? Like, from the forum? And you spend the night there?"

Yep. Two years in a row. And I'll be going back next year.
