I have a question for all the ladies on the board. I'm having a really hard time finding gear that fits my wife. Are there any recommendations of who makes women's gear for a 5'5" woman with hips ...

Well, Aerostich will tailor to any dimension, and they're good at it. There are (primarily) two drawbacks: Co$$$$t, and the fact that nobody looks good in a 'stich. So, she prolly won't like the option.

Plus 1 for the Olympia Airglide pants. They have a unique feature in that the leg zipper doesn't start until 6 inches from the bottom. The last 6 inches are velcro'd. What that means is that you can cut the bottom 6 inches of, re-hem, and cater to women with shorter legs. Also, the knee armor is adjustable to compensate for the shortened leg length.

I also bought my wife a Cortech GX jacket (which zips to the airglide pants BTW), and cycle gear boots water proof boots.

The jacket is still on closeout:

Not true. They will tailor to MOST dimensions, but there are limits.

Before they started offering women's sizing, my wife tried to fit into a suit. She's short (5'4"), mid-weight (150 lbs) with hips and ****s and no gut. Anything that accommodated her hips was way too big on top and legs too long; anything that accommodated her shoulders and chest would not zip shut. The woman helping her try on suits pretty much shrugged her shoulders. They suggested a 2-piece but that isn't what she wanted. We sent email to Andy G. about our experience.

Now that they have women's sizing and she's done breeding we will try again, although we don't have the income we used to so it might be a while.

All I can tell you (which you have probably already learned) is that finding the right size for women in riding gear can be a PITA! I would suggest also checking out some pants in men's "short" sizes. We had one heck of a time finding riding pants for my wife but because she is tall with freakishly long legs. I can tell you that sizing for both men's and women's gear varies immensely. For instance Tourmaster men's pants in tall/medium were not tall at all and wouldn't even go over her hips but Sliders men's pants in tall/small were perfect in length and hips for her and we ended up with a Sliders riding jacket in Men's medium as well for her. So the point is that you're probably in for a bit of an ordeal but if you don't have a place where she can go and actually try things on Revzilla and Competition Accessories have good return policies. Order a few different sizes and return what doesn't fit. Use the measurements they post on the websites as a guideline but don't trust them completely. Yes you have to pay for return shipping but it's worth it to get her fitted up right. No women's sizing of either jackets or pants will fit my wife and we almost went the custom route.

Next time (if there is one .. I doubt it ...), I'm going to buy the riding gear first, and find a woman that fits.
That could be way more expensive than just getting her custom gear.

It can all work out in the end...you just need patience...
