Well, the 18th of may rolled around and at 6:00am fired up the bike and headed for Vegas to attend a graduation. Went over to Marklee and headed down 395. It was a fun ride until I got to within a couple of miles my turn off onto hwy. 190 through Death Valley. There was wreck and it involved a car and a loaded 18 wheeler. As I passed by the wreck it looked as there were no surviors. this was on a teo lane stretch.

If you have never been through Death Valley it is worth the trip heat or no heat. I went throug at 2:00pm on the 18th. and it registered 115f. the beauty of the desert is something you have to see for yourself. I got to Stovepipe Wells and thought I would be able to spend the night. NO luck there, their was a Harley get together going on it Beatty Nv. about 22 miles away, all the rooms were booked. There was group of Harley riders from Germany over touring and attending that happening. So off I went to the next town about 30 miles away- Furnance Nv. It is a resort setting for golf and a motel. Pretty expensive to stay 118.00 per night in a little cabin with an air conditioner that is as effectivce as a bath room fart fan. A room at the motel started at 150.00 per night than went up.

Got up the next morning at 6am and left while it was cool 90f. Las Vegas was only 2,5 hours away and hot evern in Vegas but not as bad asDeath Valley. Went and visited with my sister attended the graduation and left on sunday the 21st.

This time I took I-15 to Hwy. 58 and headed for Paso Robles to spend the night. The weather was cool because of a storm that was comming in from the north. About 20 miles from Paso Robles on hwy. 46 it started to rain and rain really hard. I only has my mesh gear on and has about 15 miles to go until I found a oplace to pull off and put on my rain gear. Absoutely no place to stop on that two lane road . I later found out it is called death alleyand that a whole family got wiped out on saturday because of people being in a hurry and making unsafe passes.

I spent the night in a little town about 10 miles down the road, San Miguel. From there I wanted to ride some of the roads that have been mentioned in his forum,( Orangevale ). The road are G-18 &G-16 than up the coast highway to head home. These roads and the beauty that is contained in all the surroundings is a must see. From here headed home arrived at about 5:15pm put the bike away and had time to reflect on my trip. mileage 1350 spent $124.54 in gas avg. 40mpg and avg cost per ga. 3.69 I run 91 oct.

No pics. for a couple of reasons, (1) do not know how to post them, (2) trying to make time and last (3) too hot in the desert to stop

Had a lot of fun on this run saw some new country and ready to seek out more.

The michlen pilots that are on the bike performed great, both in dry weather and rainy weather

There is no bad ride only bad riders weekend rider :D

I've gotta start shooting heroin so I can post hour long stories on this thing......um, as for the dead family....us injuns are getting even....and stay away from copper head road.

Sounds like a good trip. Although you missed some better (cooler) routes into Vegas. Unless you have ridden them before. Like 120 through Benton to 6 to 264 to Dyer to 266 to 95 then south to Beatty. Fill up in Benton not many fuel stops out there. I took this route to WFO5.

Even better is from 395 at Big Pine take 168 over Westgard pass. There are some good twisties on this route. 168 ties into 266 at Oasis Ranch continue on to 95 then S to Beatty. Obviously my reply is not to timely, I was looking for some ride reports on the Big Bear area. I'm hoping to ride the area this weekend from Vegas.

Unfortunately I have to take I-15 S to Barstow or Victorville. Boooooorrring!!!!!!
