Went riding today with my friends and one had a wool cover for the seat of his GS (it came with his purchase of this bike from an ebay seller). It didn't have a manufacturer tab or name.

It was so comfy on the tushy. I like the 06 seat OK, but thought if they made one of these for the FJR I wouldn't have to buy the custom seargent seat I was thinking of.

Does anyone know of makes/manufacturers of lambwool seat covers that fits the 06 FJR seat form?

John

Hi John, Alaska Leather makes them. I ordered one a week ago. Just came. Have yet to test it.

alaskaleather.com or 877-562-2324 Bob

I tried the link for Alaska Leather and all I get is this and this:

A couple of my cousins work in a sweat shop up in alaska making them thar fluffy dice thingys.

I also bought my sheepshin cover from Alaska Leather. I've been using it on top of an Air Hawk seat cushion on my '06 and find it to be very comfortable. I think this setup may eliminate my need for a custom seat. At least for a while.

Adios...

I have one for me and I also have the pillion seat cover. Here's what I found...for shorter trips (<400 miles), it does a nice job. Once you get beyond 400 miles, it seems to get smashed down and doesn't provide the same comfort as the start of the ride. To overcome this, on a long ride, I'll only use it on every other tank of gas. I think alternating the pressure points during a ride helps to provide some additional comfort. I doubt it provides the comfort of a full-on custom seat, but, the custom seats that I have seen have their downsides, also.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I have looked at the Alaska leather seat covers; has anyone tried it on an 06 model- it looks like the medium fits the early FJR's nicely- but how about the 06 driver seat?

Hi John, I ordered the small for the front and it more than covers the front section of the 06 two piece seat. May even need to trim it a bit.

I use a lamb pelt, cut to fit. If and when it wears out I got more to replace it. Same as the 'custom', just more for the money.

I think this is the ultimate for long distance hauling: LDComfort Shorts

Don't forget a bit of GoldBond or MonkeyButt powder :D

There is also a 'poor-man's' Airhawk that is call a BunSaver. Here is a link that will give you some information: BunSaver Review I have one of these and they work like magic. I was thinking of covering the ugly camo with some sheepskin for the ultimate BunSaver!

And don't forget, the WalGreen brand of medicated body powder contains EXACTLY the same ingredients in identical proportions as GoldBond powder, yet a 10 oz. Walgreen powder at $3.99 compares to the 4 oz. GoldBond at $4.29.

Compare

And it looks like the CVS Medicated Powder in the 13 oz size is comparable, ingredients-wise.

CVS

Purchased one of these from eBay https://stores.ebay.com/Cyber-Saddlery, item # 7213902402. Used it on a 7k mile trip to Nova Scotia and loved it. Had to trim it a little to conform to the tank but otherwise was an easy install.
