Yep, the fastest I have ever been able to get documented on the track is 172 mph (via radar gun)... and that was slow...

At the end of the session, it was the increasingly impressive Ben Spies who took his second pole in a row with a lap of 1'57.280 - a time that would have put him ahead of 10 MotoGP riders at the tests run here under the floodlights last week.

I dont really follow this series, but after watching round 1 and Spies, I'd say he is in a class above the rest. Dude has serious skills! Yamaha has the machine set up right.
