Hi all,

Starting to outfit my bike so this is what I have in mind. I will use my Droid for cell and streaming music, and I want a separate GPS unit for nav. To integrate the gps and my cell I would like to find a bluetooth stereo (A2DP compatible)comms unit. Eventually I will set something up for bluetooth intercom with a passenger, but that is not needed at the moment.

So, I'm looking for:

1. Bluetooth GPS

2. Bluetooth comms unit that can handle 2 bluetooth connections (GPS and cell), must handle stereo music streaming (A2DP)

If you have anything that would work for me let me know. I'm trying to keep it on a budget so I'm not necessarily looking for high end equipment, unless the price is right! :p

The Sena plus Garmin Zumo 660 seems to be the preferred choice.

Note that the Sena would pair with the Zumo as a headset, then the Zumo would pair with the phone. Thus, you can use the Zumo to manage calls and the phone stays in your pocket.

It would be ideal if the Zumo could also do such a "streamthrough" setup with the Sena too, but it won't. You'll have to choose between the AD2P pairing with the Zumo *or* Phone. Thus, you will get AD2P+AVRCP from your phone for listening to streaming music or podcasts, but you won't get GPS prompts ("Turn left, you're going the wrong effing way, etc"). Or, if you pair AD2P with the GPS then you won't get the streaming audio from your phone. You can load up an SD card with music and put it in your GPS, but if the music selection changes regularly that's a PITA. I opted to forgo GPS prompts.

Bluetooth pairs with "profiles". A "Profile" can be "headset", "audio (AD2P)", "data" etc. A device can only pair one profile at a time. That means you can't connnect to audio from both your GPS and phone simultaneously.

Another thing to be aware of: to pair the Zumo as a headset and the phone as an audio device you need to be able to specify how the phone will pair with each device. Most android devices allow you to do this; iphone does not, and therefore, must pair both profiles (headset and audio) to the same device.

It appears Sena is working on a "hub" (the SR10) to resolve some of these issues.

What he said ^^^^

That's my set-up also. Works great. Love the SENA with the earbud mount. Very clear audio.

Thanks for the heads up guys! Experience is worth a butt load of interweb searching....
