IMHO, you're much better off just going the rest of the way and removing the other OEM grip, and fitting your bike with Symtec grip heaters. This will allow you to use any grips you want, not just the rock-hard OEM grips, and still have heat. The Symtec elements wire into the factory heat-controller fairly easily. I did this and now I can slip different grips on and off with a shot of compressed air.
If you want help doing this job, there are some posts about it on the forum. I have yet to see a definitive DIY for the procedure, but I can help you through PM if you need it.
All that said, I might be willing to sell my OEM throttle grip. I'm still thinking about it. It sells for almost $200 new (the price of replacement OEM grips alone is worth the switch to Symtec, IMO). I probably wouldn't let it go for less than $100.
