The title says it all:

My right grip has failed and if anyone has properly removed theirs because they wanted a larger diameter/softer grip or perhaps theiy crashed their ride and are parting it out.

I am looking for a complete with cable OEM heated grip in good working condition. Budget is squeeky tight which is why I am asking here.

PM me if you have one.

Thanks

I have one just like yours FAILED too bad you can't just buy one.

I saw a reference recently somebody made about getting some heated grips for a Honda ST1300(?) that were more reasonably priced.

Actually, you CAN buy just one - but check out the price . . . . almost $200 discounted for the right side. Haven't checked out the price of the left, but it would be a lot less because the right comes with the throttle tube.

If I rode an AE it would have been covered under my YES, but because I bought it as an accessory for my 'A', it isn't.

Update:

I just made a deal with someone in the UK for a new set of the OEM heated grips - the replacement parts, not the kit.

The problem is that these are intended for the 2008 and later machines which have a different part number than the original. I believe that this would be because the cam differs from the one used on the ''06 and '07 models - and from what I recall you can't swap the cam, which is why the right side comes pre-assembled when you buy the kit.

Strangely, it seems that the entire left grip is included - and that one is NOT supplied assembled in the OEM kit.

Now, Yamaha doesn't show a separate part number for a grip kit for the '08+ models on their web site, which means that there may some drawbacks to adding the factory grip kit to an 08 and later machine.

So if you have a new, never ninstalled Gen-II right heated grip from a Yamaha OEM kit and you ride an 08 or later, we might want to have a chat.

Sooner, rather than later.
